  1. I can understand the curiosity, trust me, all my mates have been asking the same question and calling me mad etc And as you say, and as ive told them, am either gonna lose my licence or my life using the bike on the public road, so ad rather take my chances on the track. If i dont like it, its only a few days work to change the bike back into a road legal R1, so no bigie Anyway, you guys got any ideas on colour schemes or designs i could use? Pictures would be appreciated.
  2. A dont really like the naked look, would look different tho, a'll give you that
  3. A Cat C wouldnt just be cosmetic, that would involve some sort of structural damage, and finding either a Cat C or D R1 is quite hard, ecspecially a newer model. The reason for using this bike is i know it runs well, and as said, i was getting bored of riding something so fast on our very speed controlled roads. And it may eventually turn back into a road bike if i get bored of track riding, again this is a reason why im using a good base model R1 and not a write-off.
  4. Well as i was getting a bit fed up of riding the mighty R1 on the public roads, i decided to take it to the next level, so the bike is now becoming a 100% race bike, with the intentions of me riding it next season and doing not too badly on it. The drawn up spec is remaining pretty small so far, with just a race fairing, race filter, custom decat y-pipe, Termi cans and a Power Commander being fitted. The bike went from this: And is currently sitting in my garage looking like this : Will keep you guys updated when i get parts fitted, and eventually get the race fairing painted and fitted Roll on next season, cause i cant wait! Welcome along Steve So whats it like riding a bike again after so long?
  6. My advice would be to take it back to where you bought it and get them to check it over, thats what warranty's are for

Right guys and gals, i am currently stripping my R1 down in preperation for a full winter overhaul from road bike to track racer. I am going to be racing in next years Scottish road racers championship with anyluck (sponsors and my bottle provided ;-)). I have purchased a race fairing and i am about to get the new paint scheme designed, i am however still looking for company or club sponsors. I have 2 local companys already willing to back this, but still looking for more as the financial outlay is quite a bit, not only for the bike and parts, but also the full race season itself. So if anybody has a company or knows a company wanting its name on a race bike (with a rider who only knows 110% throttle) then please let me know. Ricky

Is it just a slip on your going for? Id reccomend the Akra Moto GP stubby style 1, had it on my 08 R6, was stunning. You dont need a power commander for just a slip on, i used 1 because i had a race filter fitted too.

  16. Right guys n gals, have changed a few parts the past few days, 1st of all is my tasty carbon fibre Termignoni cans, werent cheap but they look and sound the dogs danglies Next up the old tank pad had to go as it was made from play doh a think, then some crash bungs, different rear mini indicators, front mini's still to be fitted, and also bought a DB smoked screen and single seat cowl today, will have these fitted next week Let me know what you think so far Oh and the 1 toy i have which would kill the bike is the purple car in my garage behind the bike, 800bhp of freshly rebuilt Skyline GTR muscle Could have had 2+ new 09 R1's for the price that engine and other parts have recently cost lol Ricky

I personally would never buy a bike i know had been dropped, to me its like a crashed car, would probably never feel right, which on a bike, scares me. How much would a clean example of a 2005 R6 cost over there? You need to take into consideration the price of that bike then the cost of sorting it. Things to check when looking at 1 would be any signs of droping(not hard on the bike uve mentioned), but look at the crank casing, bar ends, levers and fairings, exhausts are also a good place to look for damage as these are never usually replaced after a fall, ecspecially if after market. Also check the chain and rear sprocket look in good condition, if not, then these are good bargaining tools. Its just basic common sense, if it looks dodgy then 9 times outta 10 it will be. Oh also check the fluid levels, oil, coolant and brake. Ricky

I was 500 quid a year TPF&T on my 2008 R6 at 23yrs old, now upto 970 quid a year TPF&T on the R1 at 24yrs old until i get my years NCB in August, i like cheaper renewal times.
  20. Well leaving it as is didnt last long, today i ordered a whole lot of crash protection mushrooms, new tail tidy, new tank pad, new mini indicators(same as i had on the 6) and a lush set of full carbon Termi cans And to come in the not too distant future is a tinted double bubble and seat cowl, would have ordered these today but got a new lid and leathers instead, my missus is gonna be furious Bike gets new bits fitted the 3rd of Aug when im back from work, so will let you guys see it when its done. Ricky
