Hi All Bike: Yamaha DT 125R (2006 reg) After having a bit of an accident, the left hand side of the handle bar was hit and it damaged the clutch switch (The clutch lever is equipped with a clutch switch, which is part of he ignition circuit cut-off system.) The clutch lever it self is fine, the problem is when you put the bike in gear the engine switches off. Seems like the clutch switch (part of he ignition circuit cut-off system) is just a bit of metal next to the left hand grip but i have no idea in what positions it should be. Anyone have any idea how I can fix the clutch switch or how i can disable the clutch switch (part of he ignition circuit cut-off system) so that the bike does not stall when i put it in gear???? Cheers
  2. I really needs some HELP. I've had my DT125 for 5 months and only after 3 months during my bike test it started pouring with rain and I begun to get light electric shocks on my fingers every time i touched the front brake or clutch leavers. Now every time it rains hard and i'm riding i get the electric shocks. Seems like there is electricity current on the leavers. The other day it was so painfull i was changing gears with out the clutch and only using back brake. I've now taped up the leaver with guffer tape and it prevents me from getting the electric shocks when it rains. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice? Cheers
  3. My dt125r 2006reg with 11000, all original will do easily 65mph. Anything after that and you can hear the engine creaming and struggling. It's up to you but if you want those high speeds i think you could be doing some real damage to the engine.
  4. I bought a bare of tyres about 2 weeks ago. Here is what I got. The Avon Distanza is a road tyre for trail bikes. FROM: http://www.mandp.co.uk/ Front: Price: £31.99 Pt No. 506240 Description: 80/90S21 AM43 T/L Front Rear: Price: £38.99 Pt No. 506244 Description: 410S18 AM44 T/L Rear The front wheel will look a bittle bit thinner. But so far I'm very happy with the tyres. I got the tyres inclusing fitted for £100...not bad. Let me know how u get on.

BIKE: Yamaha DT125R 2006 reg Hi Guys The hand grips on my DT are very worn out. I'm looking to replace them, but wanted to use the same ones, or at least Yamaha brand. I want to keep the bike as original as possible. I have looked everywhere online but I cant seem to find any Yamaha grips. Does anyone know where i could find them? Cheers
  6. Hi Guys Wondering if anyone might know this one. I was riding to work this morning and all of the sudden I noticed the oil light (next to the speedometer) was ON for about 3 seconds, I continued riding and about 1 minute after it came on again for a few seconds. I thought it might be the 2 stoke oil that was running low. To be honest it wasn't full but it looked like it had plenty of oil left. Luckily I had a bottle of 2T oil and filled it up. The oil light didn't seem to come on after that. Is the oil light coming ON and OFF a warning that the 2T oil is low or is it something else? Another really stupid question. The oil inside the engine, is this oil we add to the 2 stroke container on the side of the seat or is it a different oil we need to add? Cheers Guys
  7. 103mph (what kind of speed meter do you have), original dtr opnly shows up to 80mph. 103 has to be one of the top speeds on any dtr...Well done mate. Some pics of the bike and a video would be nice. Keep up the good work. P.S I'm still a newbie...got a dtr125 2006 only does 70mph screaming (all original)

Yamha dealer is quoting me 60quid to fit both tyres....That's nearly as much as the tyres. I'll keep searching. The front one looks easy to do so I might ettempt it. The back one looks tricky. I've changed many many bycicle tyres in life, can you compare it? Cheers guys

cheers for that sounds like a bargain. Any ideas how much the local shop will charge to fit?

Hi Guys I've got a Yamaha DT125R (2006 reg), has around 10.000 miles and I believe it still has the original tyres. The back tyre needs to be replaced really soon. The front tyre is still in very good condition (original tyre) I commute to work on the bike every day. All the riding is done within London mostly. Any recommendations and what prices should I be looking at with fitting including. I'm thinking of doing in my local Yamaha dealer. Thanks for the help P.S going for my practical bike test next week woohoo (currently riding on CBT)

Thanks for the confidence mate...hope i pass coz the new bike test taking place next month costs more and its harder. I got the info from the DVLA site ...."A standard motorcycle (category A) is defined as a solo motorcycle between 121 and 125 cc, capable of exceeding 100 km/h (62.1mph). Please note that the BMW C1 motorcycle is not a suitable machine for a practical test." http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Learn...Test/DG_4022723

Hi Guys Been riding a dt 125r (2006 reg) in london on a CBT for 3 months....going to take my full license (restricted for 2 years) in the next 2 weeks. I'm doing a 3 day course with Metropolis in london, 3rd day includes the test. I would like to find out if anyone has done their bike test on a dt 125? To get the license the bike must hit at least 62mph....I think mine tops out at 65mph but it does take a good push and strech to get there...Do you think I'll be ok with this? The other thing is that although i'm quite comfortable i'm still quite cautious when riding specially when doing u turns and slow riding...like to keep my foot close to the floor just in case. LOL Any advice on practicing for the test day? Cheers Guys. (Yamaha DT 125 for life)

  15. Even the mechanic told me that these new DT models are not as easy to de-restrict as the older models, so surely it can’t be simple. Changing the exhaust is obviously part of the de-restriction process, but what else can I do? Please do let me know and I‘ll see if it makes a difference.
  16. Thanks for the suggestion on just getting a DEP and not bothering with spraying the original exhaust. Ur lucky man, you have the DTX...I wanted it but couldnt really find one near by and they seem to go for over £2000 so i went for the DT RE instead. Yeah I don't think mine has be de-restricted at all. I might consider it later on...How much roughly did you pay to de-restrict it? Any good suggestions on where to buy the DEP from and other bike gear? Cheers
  17. Thanks for the advice m8. Ur DT looks really nice from the pic, I wanted a blue DT as well but only found black one . Yeah i'm gonna spray it and see how long that lasts me. By the way where did you get your DEP from and would you suggest the "big one" instead? Any suggestions? When you took the exhaust out, how long did it take you roughly? How does be back exhaust connect to the front pipe. I'm kinda scared that i'll break it completely by trying to take it apart. Did you take the exhaust out all on one peace? I've also been told I need new exhaust gaskets when i put the exhaust back on. Did you need these as well? By the way i hear you can get yours to 75mhp. Mine is all original wth 10.000 miles and i've only got it to 65mhp. How much did you hit before you had your DEP? Check out this DT, the guy went done up proper niceee - http://www.google.pt/imgres?imgurl=http://...=image&cd=1

Thanks for all the help. Sounds like you've done this many times before. I checked out a exhaust gasket on ebay and they are very cheap £1.99. Forgive me for the luck on knowledge but where about on the bike does the exhaust gasket fit in and why can't I use the one i take out? Also what would you recommend more....high temp paint from halfords or barbecue paint from diy store? Thanks again.

Thank you for that Blackhat!!!! So I should just use sand paper, no rust removing products? A bit of a silly question but if i sand too much it could be damaging the pipe by making the metal layer thinner right? I think I might attempt this over a Saturday and Sunday. I think i'll manage to take out the exhaust with not much hassle...problem might be putting it back to together. Cheers

Hi Sorry i can't help much with the problems your having as I've only had a bike for a month. I know that you sprayed your exhaust pipes, it would be fantastic to have a look at some pictures of the finished job. Cheers

Cheers guys. Your help is much appreciated. Any idea how long it could take me to remove the exhaust? The last thing i want is not to be able to put it back. I don't know any places which would be able to remove the rust for me. Any advice how i should remove the rust? Can I paint over the rust using the Plasti-Kote barbecue paint ? Oldgitonabike - The exhaust on the picture looks perfect. Hope to get mine to that standard. EPP...You got any pics of ur bike?
  22. RE: Rust on exhaust Bike: Yamaha DT 125 RE (2006 reg). As many of you already know the exhaust (front and end pipe) on a DT 125 can rust very quickly. When I bought the bike a month ago with 10.000 miles it already had some rust on the exhaust. After riding for a month it's getting much worse and becoming very ugly. I don't wanna spend too much money on it (credit crunch LOL). How hard would it be to remove the exhaust from the bike and spray it in black with high temp exhaust paint shown in the following pages: http://www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk/p/HIGH-...PAINT-1027.aspx or http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...tegoryId_165495 Perhaps I could even spray the exhaust without removing it from the bike. I would have to tape up everything around it. Any ideas? Has anyone done it before (easy job or very hard) and will the paint actually last or just rust up again. If it all goes well later on i may consider buying a full DEP exhaust, which is very expensive from what i have found in the following pages. DT 125 RE / X / SUPERMOTARD 2004 > 2009 DEP REAR SILENCER - http://www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk/p/DT-12...-2004-1761.aspx DT 125 RE / X / SUPERMOTARD 2004 > 2009 DEP FRONT EXHAUST EXPANSION - http://www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk/p/DT-12...-2004-1762.aspx Look forward to some replies. Enjoy the snow coming in the next couple of day in UK. Cheers
