ker-plinck, ka-chink, ka-chunk,
ka-plunkk, ka-klunk, ka-plank, ka-chhank, kklankk, eeeeeewwwwww, *Cringes* the noises when I flip my side stand on my dragstar, awwwww, I suppose some neoprene tape would cushion it slightly, (although I've gotten into the habit of ssslllllowwwly fliping the side stand in) So this must be normal on dragstars, have any of you dragstar owners done anything to alleviate this annoying, painful, metallic clunk - chrome meeting chrome..... ka-chink, ka-chhank, kklankk, ka-chunk, ka-plunkk, eeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww

Open face helmets..
Hi there, I bought an open face helmet last week, and took the visor out - presumably its still "street legal?" as its not compromising the overall integrity of the helmet - supose its down to the failure modes of the helmet - i.e. i might have done myself a favour by removing it - for instance, if I were to crash, a shard of the visor could poke an eye, or even 2, or en a pair of eyes, and a piuerced throat (hmmm - I know - pessimistic, but it could happen...)... So tell me peeps, would I get pulled over for wearing my open face without the visor, and of course, with my terminator shades?!?!.. regards, -Mits-

VA VA VA VA VA VOOOOOOM....
Yup, my trusty Zeus book never lets me down, a tapping drill Ø6,0mm then I'll need 3 taps, I've forgotten what they were called... I think the 1st one is a "Pass" the second one is called the "Intermediate" and the final tap is called the "Plumber / plummer" Aaaaah, brings back the days, screws, threads, taps and dies,,,, ACF-50, yeah, I use that too, I'll have to check the shops for other cleaning products next time. I wouldn;t mind a smaller padded pillion seat like yours... where did you get it from?... regards, -Mits-

VA VA VA VA VA VOOOOOOM....
Gave the bike a nice wash and polish (including the chrome) - I'll reply with what I use (its basically cotton type material with some polishing agent - got it frm Heine Gerricke) Finally, mustered up the courage to drill 3 x Ø6,0 holes in each exhaust.... I'm gonna open 'em up to 6,8 and then tap M8 so I can blank em up with cap heads should the need arise... Well, the weather is improving so I really cant wait to start riding more - oh!.. I broke my land speed record on Saturday - 90mph... (Don't laugh).... -Mits-

Helicopter Tape
Hmmm Helicopter Tape?... Yes - helicpter tape - I work in the Military Aerospace Industryy. In order to protect the leading edges of wings / propellor / impellor blades from stone ships, we use something like this: - http://www.lasaero.com/article/a-proptape Any1 use anything similar to this on bikes?... hmm £1 per foot ain't cheap, but its bloody good stuff!.. I think formula 1 cars use something similar (maybe of a commercial grade as opposed to aerospace grade).. I'll have to cut some extra piece next time.... I was thinking of around the fork area..

Reccomended static duration..
I have an XVS 650 Dragstar (P reg'd) and am enquiring - does any1 know what the recommendation is in terms of how long you can leave the bike in one position (ie. on its side stand)? I work in the Aerospace industry and there are certain constraints with respect to aircraft tyres and how long you can leave the vehicle in one parked aspect before thre is a risk of developing "flat-spots" on the tyre. Bearing in mind - procedures / rules / regulations are more stringent on aircraft, I still couldn;t help but wonder if there is a recommendation for bikes parked on side stands....... regards, -Mits- PS my bikes been in my garage in the same position for 2 weeks, OOOEEEAAAAWWW... I'm feeling sleepy after my early dinner... zzzzzzzz

exhaust modifications
I do see your point, my only concern now is corrosion around the "lip of the hole" after you drilled thru'. Tell me - am I being finicky?!?!.. regards, -Mits- PS, not been out on it this weekend, - was all ready to go - and it started snowing :-(
-
exhaust modifications
hi, If thats the case, presumably you'd have to re-jet if you replace the stock exhaust - correct?.. What I dont understand is why the "slip-ons" state no re-jetting is required. Presumably the slip-ons still allow the same amout of air out - ie. same restriction as the stock config?... regards, -Mits- I was sooo close to drilling out 6 off Ø6,0mm holes around the end plate on my stocks!...
-
exhaust modifications
I'm still umming and arring about mod-ing the exhaust!.. (Too much of a chicken? - don't know) - just the thought of changing something permanently - just out of interest, is there any impact on fuel economy?.. regards, -Mits-
-
Are these exhausts any good?...
PS - is there the clearance for saddle bags?.... This is yours goff.. right?....

Are these exhausts any good?...
Are these exhausts any good?.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-DRAGSTAR-V-ST...A1%7C240%3A1318 Whats everyones opinion of them?.. do you need to re-jet or optimise carbs if replacing stock exhausts?... regards, -Mits-
