Definately pays to shop around. Don't just rely on the comparison websites - try direct as well.
My insurance was up for renewal in January - previously with Carol Nash. They quoted £160 renewal - I noticed that this included almost £40 broker fees. Found a quote from Hastings for £85.
Picked up one of these about a month ago. Not had any reason to dismantle it yet, but Haynes do make a model specific manual for it:

Assuming you've got a disc brake model, removal of the wheel looks straightforward enough, no special tools, just make sure the speedo drive unit's refitted OK.

Right at the bottom of the page - rates for bikes frozen in 2009.
Bit ambiguous - doesn't say if they're to be frozen at 2008 levels, or frozen after the proposed rise.
