passed my test about 14 years ago(been on bikes since i was 16 and i am 40 now and never got round to it) and got a GSXR400RR suzi, a feckin' rocket get used to the bike and move up, look for a 400 first to get used to the power(i had been on bikes for years and it took a bit of getting used to the 400) i dont know much about the modern 125's but have a look around and get some info before you buy, there are plenty(younger than me) on here that can help. good luck

i could be wrong but i dont think that you need indicators for an MOT, by what i mean is if they are on it they must work but if there are none fitted then its OK. maybe someone else may shed some light on it, or phone the test centre and ask them. good luck

try cleaning/replacing the air filter. new spark plug? are the float height set properly? did you give the carb a good clean out? the smallest piece of dirt may affect it. i use an areosol carb cleaner then blast every hole with compressed air. remove all the jets and do them separetly. good luck
  5. that is a nice bike. great job there. there is something about the older bikes that really stand out from the modern ones (maybe my age is showing)

is it maybe pulling air from a split carb rubber? when you say it pulls the fuel when you cover the carb with your hand it may be pulling too much air. it will pull air easier than fuel. also take of the tap at the tank and make sure it is clear, there should/may be a filter in there.

no two bikes start the same. there is a different knack to every bike. when you get it started let it sit with the full choke on and as it settles out to 3-4 thou revs put the choke back about half way and let here sit, you may hear the revs starting to rise slightly as the engine heats. put the choke of fully and see if she idles. when you are adjusting the idle speed make sure the engine is warmed up and the choke is off. best bet is to take it for a run and stop in a layby/ carpark and adjust it there.

the valve is a breather to let air into the tank as the petrol comes out to avoid causing a vacum. the pipe is just an extension of the valve and stops any dirt falling into the tank. the pipe hangs over the handlebars and under the clocks, or if there is a hole in the main central nut holding the steering stem on stick it in there.

sounds like a gasket problem. have you done anything else to the engine other than new oil?
  18. and the battery
  19. i would go with welding a nut onto the head of it, the heat will help loosen it aswell. if you start cutting at at it, it may give you more hassle by having to drill it later. if you cant get a dremmell into it how are you going to drill it out if it breaks? good luck

was driving through the town one day when i came up behind a boy racer in his nissan skyline, all the fancy shit on it and a sticker on the number plate telling everyone how powerful it was, followed him through to the next set of lights and sat in the lane next to him on the triumph but didnt look at him. he sat there revving away and blaring the stereo looking for a race, the lights changed i took off and when i put it into second i turned round and waved him to hurry up as he sat at the lights never try and race a bike from a standing start
  21. have a look all along the wiring loom, sometimes there is a fuse on thier own. i cant say for certain as i dont know your bike. could it be the brain (CDI)? these can sometimes get fried if a booster pack is used to start them. good luck

the car drivers over here are arseholes!!! about 2 days before a middle aged c*&t shot straight out in front of me on a roundabout and i just missed running into the side of him as he ran over the painted roundabout!!! as i put up my visor and politley told him what a prick he was he gave me the finger and drove off. a hundred yards up the road he was screwing up the window and locking his door as i was going to reach for him. yet another tit that was very nervous

check the oil for water (milky-brown colour) in case its the head gasket. you could also have a blockage somewhere, you could take the radiator of and flush it throgh with a hose (not a pressure washer) and remove the thermostat and run the hose up through the engine (do this on a cold engine so it does not crack anything) you say you fitted a new thermostat? check it is the correct one and fitted the right way round. good luck
  24. i agree with all of the above also check wheel bearings for play and also the swing arm
