  1. spindle= axle, its the thickness rather than length. its the matter of the hub. if you just want to respoke on a rim there's no problem that i can see except for speedo error!!
  2. you'll have to junk the front fender. but more importantly the xs650's have different size wheel spindles. If you know where there is one, get them to check the spindle size. you also need to think about spacing and speedo differences
  3. get yourself a shitty bike and do it up. you can make mistakes and it don't matter. that's how i started at 15 with a CD175. It ran but i underestimated what a torque setting was and oil pissed out everywhere

    bloody 'ell mate!! at least your not seriously hurt. I think the risk of riding a bike is outweighed by the sheer fun and the feeling of being truly alive. I had a serious accident in '92, arm in peices and a cracked spine. but I came back into biking cause I missed it too much, abet i don't bike to commute just to have fun. you'll be pissed off/depressed now, so don't make any rash decisions! drewps
  6. POR do a tank cleaning and relining kit ultrasonic cleaning is the way to go, carb kits from sirusconic. try earth connections on stalks first drewps
  7. on the tracker? they are just some cheap ones i got from Stafford, (UK classic bike show) for £30, brand new

  9. the voltage regulator controls the amount of juice to the electromagnet which then controls the amount of charging that occurrs. this is to stop the battery overcharging. I'd look there! drewps

  12. you need to scour ebay uk for xs250's as they sometimes have the spoke wheels with disks ( like mine )

  20. if its a spoked wheel, you can get a new rim laced onto the hub. try central wheel, brum or wyldes in leeds
