the gp boys clutcless up shift but have ignition control which cut the engine as the gear lever goes up. that way they hold the throttle open all the way up the gears. they use clutch on down shift, but with slipper clutches so the back wheel don't lock up!! I'vre done it, but nothing to gain and I may break a 30 yr old bike!!

  6. they are not fixed just mechanically hidden
  7. also check you are charging. 14.5 volts @ 3k revs ( when it starts) try disconnecting the head lamp and see if it works ok again!!
  8. where they ultrasonically cleaned? its amazing what comes out of "cleaned" carbs, we had a thread last year where the guy swore blind his carbs were clean ( till he saw the light)
  9. sounds like its running a little weak, adjust your pilot settings front of carbs. until you get the floats sorted, you can't expect too much in the way of performance!! I do like the quiet surburban backdrop, then start revving the bike up and the dog starts barking etc
  10. no where near, 650 engine is taller.

  13. yep, battery and flooding, that'll mess it up and even if the battery has 12v, the amps may be gone. happened to mine in the pissing rain, it started missing and wouldn't run over 50 mph. new battery and voila!!
  14. youth of today eh!!!
  15. you'll need a good amp charge to turn over the bike and run the CDI. get your battery amps checked or buy a new one as I think yours is on its way out!!

you don't need Lead Replacement Petrol, all jap bikes from the 70's were designed to run on unleaded. As OG said check filter and vacuum petrol tap. you would be well to strip those carbs and give the bike a good service. Also coils can break down after a bit due to their age.
  17. re-enforced concete is very strong
  18. so long as you ask them to supply the jets for a 250, can't see why not
