rev it to 9k and dump the clutch, not sure why you would want to do it though. you could put kev on as pillion, then you wouldn't keep the front down at all

no restrictions, more than not they will be the same shape, Its just that the later ones changed shape I guess due to noise restrictions.

for plastics I use Peeks polish, good stuff. as far as needle valves, they are finiky buggers, I had to mess with mine right up to the day of the ride to Colraine from manchester. -
this meet reminds me of my trips to the NW200, full of drama and tears. hope it all ends well.........
