    aye, those bloody steep roads. Used to have an 1962 mini, and you'd park it up somewhere and it'll end up another 100 metres away when you came back to it!

    one thing you have to remember is. if you have something chromed and needs rechroming, the steel substrate can fizz away when subject to the cleaning chemicals. I thought you'd done them yourself via caswell kits. it does look very rusty inside the rear brake pin. At the very least they should have let you know the situation and let you decide how to proceed!

    the parts do need to be prepped quite well. a bit of linishing does the trick, I know its not possible on bearing surfaces, so i think renewal or chrome is the way to go!

    that's what I did when i rebuilt my engine on the xs. put mineral oil in and thrashed it for 20 miles, drained the oil and put in semi synth. had the bike 4 years now and it don't smoke!
