the thing with Yamaha parts and all the big makes, they utilise a lot of older parts, just change the codes around. I buy stuff just by visualization and hope they fit ( mostly right)

well I've finally sussed it. As usual it was a few things; 1) the exhaust cam was 1 tooth out 2) A few valve gaps were out of specs (poss due to the head bedding down) 3) re torqued the head down and it took another 1/2 turn to get the necessary torque thanks for your input fellas! it revs out and so much better the engine is a '91 xj600 in an Fz600 chassis. well I've finally sussed it. I'm thinking TCI now, got 2 spares to try and I'll double check cams etc.

its not! got some running issues; Starts quickly with no choke and then picks up all the cylinders but have to use 1/4 throttle to do this high RPM when warmed won't rev over 6k and makes a funny noise if I push the issue spark plugs suggest rich mix before carbs rebuilt, no air leaks I'm just wondering if the skimming has affected the running ie too high compression or I've mistakenly didn't do the valve timing correctly (checked and double checked through during install) anyone comes across this or give me some pointers please? had the carbs just rebuilt and setup by NRP so no issues there. compression check next and probably recheck valve timing and gaps might have to go on the tracker, which is running great

Hello - Newbie Pre-Div XJ600 virgin saying hi . .
drewpy replied to Bigwol's topic in New Members Welcome Area
Dave, great read and if you need how to do the clutch, I posted it in the forum somewhere. Uses a pre-BMW mini door pin cut down and re-drill (dead easy compared to what you went through) I thought about getting an Ignitech but the price I have an FZ600 but have fitted the '91 engine, also check the primary gear near the clutch, mine was wobbly loose. there is a vibration around 5 - 6k on these, but its called character -

Went to Southport this afternoon to test the camera out. bloody thing fell off my helmet, luckily just turning a corner at traffic lights in Lord street and can say its fine. they have a satin rubbery finish on the case which the velcro didn't stick to very well. i also forgot to set the mode so I have to crank my head over 90' to watch it anyway was a good ride out and I learned a lot (what not to do)

I use astonish and even Tommy will testify how effective it is. just spray and wash off with hose, don't leave on too long though

most of the yam cyl have cylinder liners and if you do get them replaced ( I did on the fz600), you need them skimming also to bring the deck inline
