1977 XS500 points/timing
I thought the T mark was advanced? ie before the Fire (F) mark I use a dwell meter to set the points the same then strobe to get it spot on (use tippex to highlight the strobe flash)

1977 XS500 points/timing
take the plugs out, 10mm is small, I'd use the Hex key to turn engine over

pilots, alter fuel through out the range, but more so up to 3-4k when the mains start. The Pilots don't stop feeding fuel so will make a difference

My New XS500 carb tuning.....
carbs prob need a good clean, but if its running OK leave alone. you might be able to flick those limiters off as I think they just push on, Caveat Emptor

Road Racing
aw no. Malachi was the up and coming star too, very young. RIP same as the IOM TT, its something the riders love doing though and I still watch it for the racing, not the carnage.

My New XS500 carb tuning.....
I've no idea, some suggested phasing differences in the crank, others the compromised airbox shape

My New XS500 carb tuning.....
the 500 was a much different beast to the 400's as it was yams first attempt at a 4 valve head. the differences in carb settings was due to the left hand cyl running hotter. On the 400 they had a different jet. Can you not fit threaded spigots on the inlets and push balancer tubes over that. find the thread size using bolts
