  1. i'm just doing the valves ATM, the little shims are a pain and need to take the cams out too One thing I noticed, the pounding on the inlet journals peens the alloy slightly, check that you have 3mm oil holes on the gallery (one had closed up to 2mm) and I had to file away the edges just to get the buckets out. they are cracking engines though

very goods bikes ask Tommy XS
  3. croeso
  4. looks like its a fuel injection model which the 900's had. looks like the top will fit and put the gearbox inside the 850 http://www.justanswer.com/motorcycle/3qhvl-will-yamaha-tdm-900-engine-fit-tdm-850-frame.html
  5. the 9'ers are alloy frames, fuel injection, etc etc, i wouldn't bother. Are you sure its a 900? they came out in 2001 for info http://www.jbx9.16mb.com/index.php?page=HST
  6. check the engine number, 4tx should be in there
  7. thats why I'm getting engine bars fitted to mine
  8. insurance companies will wait as it makes liability easy to apportion.
  9. loose rear wheel? unbalanced wheel, in 6th you'll be going a lot faster than 2nd and 3rd so inertia forces could just balance it out. check all bearings including the rear sprocket carrier and rear disk
  10. if the stator runs the ignition without the ignition box and you can rig up some wiring to that effect, then its possible. some carbs have throttle position sensors though so you need to check that out too.
  11. call in at xs400.com where we talk crap over the lovely xs's

triple s in bingley are the market leaders in bike powder coating. I use Ashton powder coat now as they are a professional comany and even plug the threads. A few guys at the meet last night had the chrome effect done on their wheels and it looked great
  13. I did, she just laughed at me. love the tdm, only thing that's annoying is the heavy clutch and the crappy BMW style gear change. very flexible engine and I imagine that in the TRX it would be an ace package. easy to flick around, soft suspension for the pot holes and a great view from the bench
  14. could be warped disks too, my FZ did that at lower speeds on light braking. got new disks and it went away

I disagree, I've just touched up my wheels on the FZ when I changed disks I get the RAL number off the powder coater. Paint in the UK is very expensive compared to powder coating (Paint is labour intensive). A specialist powder coater won't lay it on too thick and preserves the stamping.

depends if its an E11 type sticker
  17. Had a craking night tonight. Got out of work early and already went to work on the TDM, so moseied off to Winfields in Haslingden for a coffee and cake and an ogle at the bikes in the Cafe. foggies bike It was only 5:30 so I detored to Pendle and stopped to admire the view near the dry ski slope got to Great Harwood by trial and error. Met a load of bikers some came from Morcambe and some from round the corner. The organiser set up pie, peas, gravy and a brew for £2.50, result. It stated raining so we piled into the pub. On the way in a drunk granny said she liked bikers and started to give me a kiss, I thought it wuold be a peck but I got a full on tongue EWWWW! a strong coffee got the desired effect but the others where wondering why i was trying to wash my mouth out. It stopped raining by the time we got out and we all parted company. I got home about 9pm, but that bloody bike just cruises at the ton so I need to keep my eye on the speedo all the time as its quite comfortable on this bike going that fast.
