with magneto it should start without a battery, but the lights/indicators won't work properly or not at all. well that's what i did on the wifes cg125 (who is slowly coming round to liking the bike!!)

in the last classic motorcycle mechanics you can make one out of a G-clamp and a castellated metal tube welded on the flat part (to get the collets out) I'm sure theres something similar on 't web

If you have an old Gs you HAVE to have them on or your alternator gets fried (overheats)

PJ! is the best comes in satin or gloss black for engine cases. they are petrol proof when cured!!

take it easy there, make sure your tyres are in good nick and at the correct pressure. fitting a big bore will invalidate your insurance (as may a taller gear) and make sure your license is valid for a motorbike. (I sound like a boring boring old fart (ergo OG))

just recieved notification the the Barnsley motorcycle festival date is the 21st June 09. A great day out and you get to "parade" your bike around Wombwell Kart track. you never know, OG might ride his bike on it this time? http://www.freewebs.com/show-with-go/ with pictures and videos even got yours truly racing racing round (7th from bottom; line 1; on first page, 2008 photographs)

the problem with just tightening them up is that the end might puncture the inner tube. you will need to take the tyre off, then you can tighten them till they "ring" the same as the others, then check for trueness by spinning the wheel with a marker near the rim for visual confirmation.

is there a fuel smell on the spark plug? you could always throw a bit of fuel in there to see if it sarts up and if it does the carb is blocked (or the petrol tap is switched off) if you can get a run with a bit of fuel in, knock off £50 at least as its a pain getting the carb cleaned if you don't know what you are doing!!
