  2. Motorcyclists in Nigeria have been wearing dried pumpkin shells on their heads to dodge a new law forcing them to wear helmets, authorities say. Officials in the northern city of Kano said they had stopped several riders with "improvised helmets", following this month's introduction of the law. Road safety officials said calabash-wearers would be prosecuted. Thousands of motorbikes have been impounded around the country and taxi motorbike drivers have staged protests. Calabashes are dried pumpkin shells more commonly used to carry liquid. According to the new law, all motorbike drivers and motorbike passengers must wear helmets. Kano Federal Road Safety Commission commander Yusuf Garba told the BBC they were taking a hard line with people found using the improvised helmets. "We are impounding their bikes and want to take them to court so they can explain why they think wearing a calabash is good enough for their safety," he said. Fifty motorbikes had been seized so far in Kano city alone, he added. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7813418.stm
  3. use heat as well. the ally and steel have different expansion qualities and will break the corrosion. if it snaps off, arc weld a nut on it and the heat will also halp to remove. drewps

I know its painful i had a guy pull right in front of me, luckily i dismounted before the bike hit the car which proptly set on fire (gulp!) broke arm in 2 places and a cracked spine L3 and the lesson I learnt was even if you are in the right you still get punished by being injured!! that's enough of me, hope you are ok mate! the police should be able to tell you where the bike is! Get it back asap as you are totting up parking charges, the greedy bastards it cost me £300.

  16. sounds like you have a fuel supply problem. is the tap really clear of crud? is there a sucking sound when you open the petrol tap? (breather blocked) could try to rig a temp fuel supply and see if it runs ok. (to eliminate the above problems)

stick a multimeter on dc volts across the battery terminals and you should get between 13.5 and 14.5 volts @ 3000rpm. for the charging system to work you NEED a good battery as it excites the field coil to generate the electricity. if after you have a good battery and you can't get the volts, it is usually the voltage regulator as they are electro mechanical in operation. drewps
