I thought you could replace bushes like the xs i have. usually they are made of nylon plastic but I have a set of bronze which keeps things in check. you might be able to keep up with me on the twisties then

you can get petcock repair kits off ebay etc c/w new diaphram and seals. once you get that fixed, then see if the needle still leaks! drewps

This is the international classic japanese bike show and its MASSIVE!! planning to ride out on either saturday or sunday depending on the weather. we normally go down via knutsford and stop off at little chef, stoke (near A500)for a brew and a bit of crumpet! then its filter riding near the stafford county showground as the roads are choked with punters. I usually set off about 8am and get to stafford 10ish with pre bought tickets as the queues can be rather long (it has got better over the last few years) if anyone wants to come along,your welcome but be prepared to walk a ways as this is a big show and takes 4 hours just to walk round!! http://www.classicbikeshows.com/

nice one chris "current state" liked the pun with this charging system, you have to start out with a fully charged battery as this is needed to excite the field coil into a magnet which produces power for the battery!! the actual regulation of electricity that gets produced is done by either an electromechanical or electronic voltage regulator. this device sits between the battery and field coil. Its possible that the electromech one may need adjusting. electronic ones need replacing. you also have a rectifier; this goes from the stator where AC is produced and converts it to DC to charge the battery.these can also fail causing a big short! to test; you need a multimeter over the battery terminals and check that you have 13 - 14 volts @ 3k revs. there are other tests you can do for the regulator and rectifier which are in the download manuals at the top of this forum page.
