1. I liked it when he got his weener out
2. there's 2 indents in the rod which are held by ball and spring to hold choke in two positions. the chokes themselves are just brass tubes which slide in a cylinder with a rubber seal on the end. check the screws holding the "fingers" to the rod are secure and not sqiffy causing the jam (or marlalade) drewps
3. its on the right side and you have to take off the clutch cover!(after draining the oil)
4. i got a pair of the DOHC carbs and they are recessed inside the "yellow" in the diagrame. It could be that there is also a thin plate across it to stop peeps fiddling, just needs to puncture it with a nail and lift it out.

82 xs400sj

4k revs is where the pilot system is taken over by the mains. look at the carbs first
7. they can be, but it really is a specialist job http://www.guagerepairs.com you need to find a way of bending the rim back and more importantly, some sort of wooden plug to bend them back neatly drewps

XS400 Carb info

can't touch this....... 1) the carbs are 34mm, you didn't read properly did you!! 2) don't overtighten the intake boots onto the cyl head as they can bow leading to air leaks, use the correct torque 3) try enrichening each pilot mixture screw ANTICLOCKWISE say another 1 to 2 turns and see what happens 4) I inadvertantly forgot to tighten the intake jubille clip on carb to intake which sucked in air, i blame OG for that one! 5) try spraying wd40 or such arounf the intakes, any change in engine revs indicates an air leak 6) float height is 26mm NOT 32mm as per haynes
9. there was a BMW recall on cars early last year
10. couple of tips; use a stainless rod when i used a bucket, the distance from the part raised and lowered the resistance which helped my car battery charger. (it kept overloading and cutting out) what for the bubbles as they can really foam up wear gloves and use in a well ventilated area
11. just try it, you can always get a new mains on its own. i went up 1 jet on my tracker, but think i need to go higher. I want to book some time on a dyno to get a fueling curve (about £40 and new mains are £6 each) drewps
12. The right way to arrest a terrorist If this happened in the UK or the US , the cops would all be suspended and fired. The terrorist would get a new motorcycle, about $500,000 in compensation, an apology from the prime minister or the President, and his family would be brought over from Pakistan , and housed in West Kensington or Hyde Park . This incident shown in this video took place in Spain . Apparently the Spanish police agreed to placate a 'bank hostage' situation by allowing the radical to 'escape' uninhibited. He was allowed to walk out of the bank in the company of 2 hostages. The police provided him with a motorcycle and free access to the motorcycle. Then, leaving the hostages behind, he was permitted to ride away down a clear roadway to make his 'escape.' This whole incident, shown on CBS television, complete with news reporting in English, can be seen on this 55-second video clip. The concluding few seconds of this video shows the result of the Spanish planning. <param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385">

Hello!

hello Nick, time off from the north pole? to the forum
14. you can de rust your tank using washing soda and a battery charger. Its basically reverse plating.
15. thought you might be interested to know that following the UK Government's freedom of information act you can now get access to ALL speed camera offences registered in the last 12 months. Did you know that every time your vehicle goes past a speed camera, even 1mph over the set limit, it is registered and put on a database? You only get a ticket if you are way over the limit or, (this is the bit that I didn't know) if you receive over 10 near misses, you will be classed as a serial offender and get a ticket the next time you go just over the limit. This is why you hear of people being done for 34mph in a 30mph limit area, whilst others doing 39 do not. You can check what has been registered against your vehicle at the following web address: www.i-database.co.uk Just enter your registration. If there is any data on your vehicle you can click on the camera window to see a copy of the photograph. Hope it's useful. If the link doesn't work just put "i-database.co.uk" in Google.
