  1. check ebay for master cylinder rebuild kits. firstly, I'd strip the old one down to check the bore for corrosion btw to the YOC
  2. drewpy replied to barkwindjammer's topic in The Bar
good job they weren't measuring your arse then, could drive a hummer for that one
  3. blanks come up on ebay occasionally. tried yamaha?
  4. all xs400's use a mikuni bs34 carbs, but there are differencs due to emmisions legislation over time. you can get a set of carbs from another 400 to fit yours, I have fitted soem dohc carbs to my tracker with a little modding (the dohc's are narrower) twin means 2 cyl engine
  5. drewpy replied to a post in a topic in Yamaha Workshop
    north i'd say
  6. i posted a pikkies of a virago which had a rear wheel for the front. if you have wire wheels, then lacing a different rim should present no probs except for any clearance issues you may have!!
  7. just swap 'em with allens
  8. drewpy replied to Paulwhite's topic in General
Kin 'ell mate, you got a friday bike!! ( ask OG about Friday vehicles )
  9. also note that the engine won't turn over with the clutch disengaged/missing as the kick gear moves the gears through the tranny via the clutch to the main drive pinion at the end of the crank!!
  10. you sure its a 1.6? 1.85 is standard as far as I know!
  11. usually 90/90's, i got a 3:50 x 18 on the front of my tracker, it fits under the front mudgaurd, but I've yet to ride it so i don't know what the handlings like!!
  12. rolled off the table and onto the floor. into the kitchen and out of the door. rolled in the garden and under a bush then your little steel ball is nothing but mush.... mush mush!!
  13. you don't really need a torque wrench for the screw although it only 6lbs ft so don't go mad!! do it yourself its really easy if a little fiddly, try and buy the angled gauges as they can be manovered easily.
  14. As i said all sohc's will fit. if the contacts can be upgraded, then i assume the reverse is true
  15. no messing there, hate to think if the thing gets caught turning, you'd get a clout then
  16. renew the line and put a wire clamp in there to hold it over the nipple
  17. its got the electronic ignition trigger which is usually a later engine (circa 1980) and the engine off a special/heritage type bike due to the rounded barrels. there is a thread in the sticky to convert to electronic ignition if you want to go that route, otherwise sell the trigger mech and revert to contacts! 4G8 engine #?
  18. oil pan? is it the 6 x 6mm screws under the case holding the oil gauze cover? its a tight bugger and with no heads on will come off. Use a rubber mallet to shift it slightly with luck, the screw shafts will be protruding and you can get to weld a nut on to remove.
  19. good to go mate, all sohc's fit!
  20. drewpy replied to Geoff 52's topic in The Bar
Nice one Geoff, doin' mighty fine mate and you?
  21. generally due to the high power to cc ratio, motorbike engines have higher spec oils. no need to add anything, the best you can do is change the oil regularly, save your money towards that!
