  1. you've got the unusual version. this is a swinging caliper and was fitted to the rd400 daytona model (us version) there is a thread on this very caliper somewhere. HERE

    what next

I like the MT-03. don't forget i get 1st dibs on your FZ though
  3. Ritlow the needle position determines the midrange carburation. raising the needle richens and lower = weakens. I've checked my manuals and they don't say where the count is taken. looking at the pictures in there, the E-clip looks near the bottom part of the needle if that helps.
  4. you can't beat a bit of kinetic engineering
  5. sounds like the carbs need balancing. one pot is dragging the other, you sound well chuffed getting it going
  6. looks a modern enfield, and you had to rebuild it? those LC wheels, or are they standard in OZ?
  7. welcome back foams, you keeping mistress goff captive down there?
  8. the easiest wsay to check your at TDC is put your thumb over the spark hole and listen for compression. Thats' turning the crank anti-clockwise on the left hand side the LT nearest that compression stroke is the one you use. LF is the firing mark and is in advance of TDC as it takes a millisencond for the fuel to ignite and the flame front to expand and send the piston down.
  9. I grounded mine, but looking at the schematic, looks like they don't need to be!
  10. there were 2 different types of caliper used in the xs400. 1 was a floating caliper design (common) and the other used a sliding pin design. let me know which one you have! (or post a pikkie)
  11. crossed me legs in some places
  12. you can get cam chains with a soft rivet connection, i personally would split the cases and do it properly bike looking great
  13. memories for me too merv, good pikkies

  15. I go away for a week and this happens
  16. you would have to open the left case and stator off ( a pig of a job) and replace the stator case, buy a motor and wire it in. I personally wouldn't bother, there was only a couple of models which were kick only anyways, i think they ended in E as econony model and usually had wire wheels ( well sort after part now)

    YOC patch

this is the initial one i did. the only proviso that the badge makers said was they can't do the graduations or 3d. if anyone has a better design, go ahead and we could have a selection process. I'm off for 1 week now so we could end entries after then!

    Bike Names

when i was a butcher, we used to say "good morning" to the fridge. without that fridge we wouldn't have a job, never broke on us in 2 years
  19. my mate bought the xj6 coz ha had a 0' finance deal. cracking bike and a looker (has no fairing)
  20. yep, heritage, custom, special etc
  21. its a sohc, but not an SX the rounded barrels were fitted to the "custom" style bikes
  22. you need to caliper and mount bracket from an SR500, xs750, xs850 or xs1100 you will also need the master cylinder fom the xs's mentioned above, to push enough fluid for 2 brake pistons drewps

    YOC patch

Thinking of having cloth patches made of the YOC. The patch would be something like my current avatar @ 75mm diameter. Min order is 50 and would only be solid colours as the way the embroidery goes. if enough interested i would go ahead. for usa I would prefer a single contact to send a package over (would be cheaper anyways) payment through paypal methinks. cost £3 plus post and packing drewps
  24. all the way to the right is the parking lights ( in UK law we have to have parking lights on, on an unlit road) mid way, may the lights only come on when the bike is running as it may have another replay for the lamps powered from the alternator, being us model.
  25. even easier, I'll meet you at McDonnalds. its the first junction after you've gone over the M60 Barton high level bridge (as if you were going to go to the Trafford centre) Neary Way, Urmston, Manchester M41 7FP‎ - 0161 749 9566‎ http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Mcdonalds+urmston&sll=53.460613,-2.330818&sspn=0.03664,0.086775&gl=uk&ie=UTF8&hq=Mcdonalds&hnear=Urmston,+Manchester,+United+Kingdom&ll=53.46046,-2.367897&spn=0.146559,0.347099&z=12&iwloc=D
