YBR stall's when it says its in neutral ?
mine (xs400)does that occasionally, its a contact on the other end of the gear change drum that must get a bit of swarf or oil to create a contact. Mind you, it is 32 years old

removing o-ring fork caps
they sound like the xs400 forks. I use the wife to pick out the little circlip with a terminal driver. I push down really hard on the fork cap with a heavy duty screwdriver so she can get to the circlip. It then flies across the garage and I spend 1/2 hour looking for it. if the cap won't budge, i nod my head and the wife hits it with a mallet!

Quick braking question.
depends how you ride, emergency braking won't be the same, but carefully set up with decent liners they will be ok. check for ovality, they can be skimmed and thick shoes manufactured to fit the bigger drum.

Rear wheel Hub Dampers causing sproket mount to move forward and backward
too much oil pressurises the case and blows the oil seals and could also put a fair amount of pressure under the piston, something has to give!

Intro and 1st Yama Project - 1981 XS400SH
we don't have mac pipes here in the UK. mostly Motad and Neta. I seem to remember that they can easily rust! Motads are stainless (crap grade though) Marvin seem to be a good make.

Dutch XS400 2A2 Caferacer
schweeeet! I think it should be 2.15" front (from memory) and 2.5" rear I'd get new rims and spokes anyway and treat the hubs to vapour blast and paint. guess who's got 4 nos dampers for the rear hub?
