yep needle jet (main nozzle) is the emulsion tube. undo the main jet with flat blade screw driver and take off the top of the carb as mentioned, and it will fall out (if you tip it upside down) take a picture so I can see what's been done!
  4. Cal you have (hopefully) come to the right place
  5. I spoke to frost retorations in person last year about the chrome paint, amd they said its nowhere near as good as the real deal! Have you thought about chrome powder coat? do it

your a plonker aaron, the main jet falls out, yes falls out through he top of the carb. take off the diapram and needles together , undo the main jetscrew inside the carb and the emulsion tube just falls out, (i'm assuming you mean the emulsion tube) which carb side broke?
  8. aye, I think we already met on xs400.com just do things in "batches" one module at a time. start collecting parts for it now and get to know a good chromer in your area and buy him lots of drinks! whatever you do, don't throw the wire wheels away, give them to me

don't rush it now, that's how mishtakes occur don't forget the
  10. TomSelleckWaterfallsandwich is an icon of our time, a metaphore to live by and, in this time of civil unrest and global warming, a flickering flame of all that is good. Why you could not see its simplistic beauty in the execution of the water and sandwich is incomprehensable. With Tom Selleck, this just adds the "missing ingredient" in any aquafer setting of Bakery food stuffs. ......Ok, it was sent to me as a link

  12. looks like a capacitor, its a bit like a battery that it holds a small charge. Maybe its to either kickstart a relay or smoothout spikes from generator. It won't matter which way its wired, AFAIK ther's no poliarity on these!

I think your second post pissed a few peeps off as, belive it or not, we work during the day so expecting an answer within a few hours of posting is a bit much! best to wait or have a bit of banter with the posters!

sent off a fiver before xmas to the DVLA for some history on me xs400. In comes a big bundle today (all 13 previous owners) names and addresses. the bike was sold by Wylie and Holland in Market Drayton, Salop. They are still trading, so I wrote to them tonight and I'll see what they say! the bike then worked its way round Wales and Anglsey before ending up in Altrincham and then me (In bits) There is a mistake in the chassis/frame number from the outset as they have put an extra 0! nice to see and I may write to the previuos owners to see if they have any pikkies of the bike (it was Black at one time) drewps
