    chain

in my yam manual for xs400, it says pull chain out (half way round on the rear sprocket) If it lifts more than 1/2 chain link ,its worn!
  2. settings are wrong
  3. TBH i was crapping meself, gets a bit nervy when you see all that tarmack and you know your gonna be gunning it the next few mins with those racers chasing you!
  4. I wonder if your getting a weak spark and closing the gap is just compensating for it. I am running points, but only as a trigger for electronic ignition which was homemade from an enthusiast in germany! I have those iridium plugs and haven't changed/adjusted them for a few years and still going strong. I did have some coil issues but replaced them with a set off ebay with a 3ohm set. £13 each they were and bolted straight on. which tip did you break off? mains or pilot?
  5. thank god for that, can't wait to see this problem sorted
  6. it look s like a strip down to me. gears are worn
  7. YAY got front page on the Barnsley bikers web site, Mike is behind on the honda
  8. I am assuming they are wire wheels then? you need to get the specs for the SR which I do not have, if you already have an SR, why not offer them up and see if the difference.

    YOC T-shirt

its the T shirt that is upside down
  10. it is the amount of "time" ie degrees angle over the circumference of the shaft the contacts are closed. This charges up the primary coil and when the points open, the electricity has built up so much in there that is inducts into the seconary and through the spark plug jumping the gap. the more the coils are energised the fatter the spark.
  11. if you go to the meet, you have the pleasure of his company
  12. so we got 8 up to now!! Its hard work getting peeps to commit Paul. I'd also ask peeps to pay up front as, good as their intentions are, it gets "forgotten" or "computer broke" or some other excuse which still leaves you out of pocket! I occasionally still get a PM saying I forgot where's my patch!!
  13. Not quite, dwell is the time the points are closed,so its the opposite. told you these carbs are finicky, are you really sure those tips have not broken off, can you see daylight with the carbs off and mix screw out? the only other thing is the float bowl has a fuel run and it did take me a while to ungunge it using compressed air, solvents etc. drewps
  14. its under this very heading pinned at the top! He's from Breitmet, ask him yourself!

  16. it was very nice, the bridgestone was amazing and the guy with the cbx gunned it all the way round and showed peeps what it could do. xs on the limits? just a little but it felt so good and no letting go at all!

  19. lie down eh? you know something, my bike started to wobble at 90mph last year, and it has done it this year too. I lost 4 stone in weight about the same time, co-incidence?
  20. well what a great day today, weather started misty, but didn't rain to a glorious sunny afternoon. managed to get 2 session round the cart track and blew away an rd250 and X7 lots of left hand bends as you can tell from the front tyre there was a cool cbx1000 streetfighter there it won the 80's class, the X7 won the 70's and bridgestone 350 the 60's this was howling round the track as a latecomer can you tell what it is? A Gilera 4? Nope, its a cbx550 engined norton featherbed framed special. but it sounds and looks so nice
