usually you slacken it off and an internal spring pushes the cam blade against the chain and then tighten it up (engine off) I strongly suggest you get a workshop manual for the bike or you'll be asking every "how do I" question going . If you come unstuck, we'll be glad to help!

you need to get yourself doen to Stafford in April. Its a Giant bike jumble and I mean giant! you'll bound to find stuff you think you will need

service the bike then strip reclean the carbs, not spray a bit of carb cleaner in the carb mouth!
