Its finally arrived, I can't put it off any longer. I have finally made a start on the little Gilera here's what I found with the frame Oops its broken what's that smeggy thing on there? cut that thing off and read up on slugging the frame off the chopper underground I lost my lathe virginity today, and it was great. There is something cathartic about cutting bar on a lathe. It was a bit daunting at first, as it had a plethora of knobs and levers but I soon picked it up. Apparently all the kids just put a programme in and watch their steel take shape. I did it the old school way well my new slug fits great and just needs welding up with the engine in situ to make sure everything fits. those plates are next and I need some 5mm plate to remake the main stand rests.
  2. well done, I looked at buying a V50 in the early 80's, but as it was my only mode of transport I settled on a cx500. I didn't regret it, but now those 850 le mans.....mmmm! great fun building, look forward to even more progress. Is it a resto or an "interpretation"?
  3. wow, that's nice. Love the exhausts too there's dirt quake in Coventry speedway track on 19th May. Might be worth a trip on it there!

  6. some more phone video there was a couple of Norton rotaries there, 1 was an F1 but it wasn't running right IMHO. there was an amazing pair of weslake supercharged beasts, that set the tarmac alight till one threw a rod.

  17. Always missed this and it was on the way to Nabs head show. I'll see what the weather's like and give it a go methinks.
  18. the MOT merely states that the exhaust is not too loud and is the tester is deaf, then that's the way it is. I reduce revs on the tracker and have fitted a mirror just because of this. not been stopped yet!
  19. just another day in Bolton, what's the issue here?

hammerite seems to be the chosen budget paint. specialist thinners needed and not much colour choice but very durable!
