    went out yesterday for a scoot and off to Houghton tower. missus is ill in bed so won't miss me and the kids are camping with explorers
  4. I laugh, but i did some of that when I was younger. Oh to be young and stoopid I loved the car towing and the steering lock was on

    the MOT merely states that the exhaust is not too loud and is the tester is deaf, then that's the way it is. I reduce revs on the tracker and have fitted a mirror just because of this. not been stopped yet!

    if you have the electro mechanical voltage regulator, you can adjust it. you need a healthy battery to have good charging as that is the way the system works. you have 3 white wires from the stator to rectifier and 2 green from the field coil. the field coil is fed by the voltage regulator and is really an electro magnet and more or less current produces the right amount of charging for the battery depending on its state of discharge!

    mines fine, in fact its better than some modern bikes I've ridden! to get to 2nd to 1st, you have to push down twice, not jump on it to get it there. There is a pawl and ratchet which has to return to its central position before hooking onto the next gear/neutral position. A loose rear drive chain gives the worst gear change

  24. the woodruff key is only there to locate the rotor. Its the taper that grips the rotor and some peeps use grinding paste to get a good key and thus grip (wash off the paste first)
  25. 1985 xs250? never heard of them. plenty of spares around. cmsnl.com in Europe. yam aha still sell a lot of spares eBay is also your friend. I would up jet the mains at least 2 levels.
