1R7 is a 79 onwards DT250F same as mine but saying that the model 1R7 also goes back to 77 ,according to Part Number Search 1R7-28197-80-00 SERVICE MANUAL-B 79 DT250F basically it was the last of the DT's (not mine) taken from web

Update Dismantled the engine today and found the the piston broke again and the reason was the roller bearings on the con rod disintegrated,so managed to find a replacement second hand engine for 120 Euros so good deal there

Ok guys went down to the garage today for a quick look,tapped the gear lever a bit and yo and behold the gears work went to start and it started and seized up so only thing to do is dismantal the engine again and see whats wrong,this time i'm going to split the engine open as i got a feeling a large piece of piston is inside and wedged between the crank and case

Hi all If me brother wasn't away for next 2 and half years i'll kill the fooker,anyway rant over. Re bored the barrel and put it all together today(thanks to everyone for advice)started up after half dozen kicks and was felling pretty chuffed,loads of smoke till cleared out revving ok so pretty happy until tried to ride it,went in first gear ok pulled ok until tried to put it in second,Nothing gear lever solid will only go neutral and first gear nothing else also no lighting works but i'll try to find a wiring diagram for that see what wires he broke the sh*t. Hi all rebuilding the Dt250F now just one question,I had to rebore 2mm over(last)due to grove in bore, question is as it's a large rebore would I need to increase the fuel to be richer and if so how?I'm useless on carbs Cheers all

Anything over 60mph on my Kawasaki H2 felt faster(and worring) then doing a ton on my old FZR1000

Right the m8,I was premix the fuel maybe he forgot to put oil in anyway thanks for input on the 400 issue looks like a complete strip down on the books then,relly didn,t want to start on it till I finished my H2 but sods law ain't it bloody great 2 bikes in garage and lovely weather here at the moment never mind Cheers mate

Hi all Lent my DT250(1981) to my brother while I was away came back and found this Cheeky twat says it was ok when he used it,anyway apart from the broken piston and rings the is a grove in the barrel,should be alright if I go a couple of sizes up on the rebore but was thinking could I put the Barrel of the Dt400 on and have 400cc bike instead of 250cc also if putting 400 barrel on is ok would I have to use the 400 head Cheers all

Hi Bit confused here my Dt250 1981 has no stripes on tank so I thought i'll get some made,now I been looking at some other bikes on the net and there are 2 types one with stripes going the length of the tank and another with Dt and going from top to bottom of tank and stripes on the side panel does anyone know what was the right sticker for that year Cheers all

Well it seems its not there had to put oil in tank,ain't done that for years lol,put a bit to much methinks as loads of lovely smoke anyway found a second hand oil tank going to put that on.

Another stupid question(don't forget my 1st DT)wher is the oil tank on the DT250F,I have looked but can not find it,I got a funny feeling somebody took it off. Cheers All
