I had the same problem with my YBR, purchased a new cable from a Yam Dealer was on about £12 They may have to order it in for you as mine took a few days to arrive.

Hi, I recently brought a YBR and after running it for a few days the electric rev counter has stopped worked properly, and works sometimes when the full beam is switched on. Was wondering if anyone had an idea about this? I am going to get a new battery to see if this is the problem, but think it might be a short somewhere in the circuit.
