  1. I fitted a Cobra slip-on exhaust to mine when I had it. Looked similar to stock but sounded much better. No remapping required either. I bought it from the link below (though exchange rates were much better back then). There's also a fair few different ones to look at. https://sscustomcycle.com/pa_bikes/yamaha/vstar-1300/exhausts/
  2. Grouch, I didn't think this winter was too wet but maybe I'm too used to it these days? My bike is 99% ACF50. What I discovered after the first time the bike died is there's a bunch of connectors above the radiator which get soaked, and Suzuki didn't feel the need to put a protective sleeve over them... They're now full of ACF50 and covered with aan old mountain bike inner tube
  3. That road looks fine Sacha... I ride all year round but recognised my age a few years ago and bought a heated jacket, then fitted heated grips. The winters haven't been too bad recently, the worst was when I had my FZS600 Fazer and my road was sheet ice. Trying to cross a junction a group of lads (c.10yr old) stopped and pointed at me chanting "he's gonna drop it!" Little gits. Then had to dig the snow off the drive to get it in the garage. I've also noticed Suzuki's have crap electrics that aren't waterproof so corrode like a bastard. May well have to return to mother Yammy... Lots of bikes out now, half of them thinking my commuting route is a race track.

    I'm back...

Let me know what you think of it- am thinking of trading the V-Strom and an F800 may be one choice, though may well return to Yamaha on something like a Tracer... won't back another Suzuki though as it's been riddled with wiring loom issues (boo!)
  5. DaltonWhite might be worth a call. They're motorcycle specialist solicitors. Good luck
  6. Sorry to hear that Slice. May he rest in peace.
  7. I've noticed the last few times I've insured the company specifically asks what the garage is constructed of e.g. brick/concrete. Worth checking if wood is an option, but I suspect it won't be under 'garage'.
  8. Bit late in seeing this but RSTD bars are a popular swap on the XVS1300 to bring them closer to the rider. 1300tourer.com has a fantastic guise on them.

    WTF?

We had this in Leeds on Halloween in the pedestrian area of the town centre http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-37837451 and this a mile or so later http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-37830540
  10. I think it depends on manufacturer. Unlike cars, motorbikes are not covered by regulations that let you use none manufacturer garages. Suzuki for example do allow you to use non-Suzuki dealers and you don't have to use OEM parts either https://www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/ccr/customer-services-frequently-asked-questions/#FAQ_WARRANTY Triumph on the other hand say you do have to use their dealerships or the warranty is invalid (they wrote into Bike or Ride to correct an article where they said you could use any garage). You might be best contacting Yamaha and asking.
  11. Given he failed to stop at the scene of an accident that will not go well for him in court. ££££
  12. Bugger fella. Hopefully someone will come round soon and realise it's a mistake (or you'll get some free repairs done to your house)
  13. Very sad. Thoughts to her family and the driver that hit her
  14. Incidentally I wouldn't ride with a broken limb, jaw etc. I'm a firm believer in being ride fit. My stupid brother snapped a ligament in his ankle 6 months ago and was told it'd take 6 weeks to heal. But he was still riding his bike during this time saying he'd be fine. His leg still hasn't healed properly...
  15. It's your jaw so up to you if you want to try. I know someone who rode with a broken leg (fracture below the knee)... If it hurts putting the helmet on then probably not a good idea, but as Dr Pepper would say, what's the worst that could happen?
  16. My £350 Hein Gericke Sheltec textile suit survived 6 years of daily commuting without leaking, including a tour of Scotland where it rained for 3 days and I was riding 8+ hrs a day. This one failed on its 1st encounter with heavy rain in less than 15 minutes of riding. Very poor. Next time I'm buying the cheapest gortex suit I can buy, and maybe a 'boil-in-the-bag' over suit for riding long distance in bad weather. Hopefully this review will help others think more money doesn't equal better kit, and this particular suit isn't worth the money. Also, buying local doesn't equate to better customer service. I had to abandon going into my office today as I was caught in rain on my way in and my summer kit turned into a sponge. I stopped at GetGeared Leeds dripping wet and asked if they could give me an update on the jacket coming back from Rev It (I took it back 2 weeks ago this Sunday) was told they'd check and call me by 11am. Still heard nothing... next time I may shop online. Looks like a bin bag for next week.
  17. Darwinism waiting to happen there. Just hope you're not nearby when it does...
  18. On 05 March this year I purchased a Rev It! Poseidon Gortex Suit, costing close to £1,000, including a back and hip protectors (not included in the price of jacket/trousers).Note: Prices have increased since I purchased the suit to £599.99 for the jacket and £439.99 for the trousers, excluding any back armour or hip armour.Normally this is far more than I would spend on a suit however I commute daily by motorcycle and my previous waterproof suit finally gave up this year on a commute down the M1 to Sheffield, leaving me arriving at work pretty wet. My previous suit (a Hein Gericke Sheltec) cost around £350 in total and lasted 6 years, so I was looking for a replacement of equal or better quality.During my search, I visited GetGeared in Leeds and the sales person eventually showed me the RevIt Poseidon suit and explained 'it's one of the best waterproof jackets you can buy' and 'definitely worth the extra money' over the other Gortex suits I'd been looking at. I was also told as it's laminated Gortex, the water will sit on top of the suit, rather than soaking into the fabric and so will remain light and be dry in a very short space of time. Result. And 0% finance, even better. Having used the suit for March it was warm and dry (although I use a heated jacket during winter). It has good adjustment and good pockets, although I would have preferred the internal pocket on the jacket to be side opening rather than top opening for ease of accessing my mobile phone. In April I didn't use the suit much due to being on leave, and from May onwards I moved to my vented summer jacket, only using the RevIt suit on occasion. I did notice however that on warm days the venting system (not suitable for anyone using a Pacemaker as has magnetic seals) isn't the best at cooling you down, but that's why I have vented summer gear. (Also my brother reckons the chest vents/flaps look like some kind of sex suit for showing boobs off)Anyway, fast forward to the end of summer, Saturday 03 September, and I had to go to Screwfix in heavy rain. On went my RevIt suit, for the first time in two weeks, my TCX Infinity Gortex boots (£185) my Richa Gortex gloves (£80), and my Shoei Neotec helmet, and I jumped on the trusty Strom. Ten minutes later I'm in Screwfix, picking up a replacement heat alarm then back on the Strom. Five minutes later my jacket is leaking nothing else leaked...Long story short, the RevIt jacket is now somewhere [Italy?] with RevIt for repair which may take 6 weeks (c. mid-October). I've now been without a waterproof jacket for two weeks, relying on my vented summer suit and as a result got soaked riding back from Liverpool on the M62 earlier in the week.Obviously I'm very disappointed with the RevIt jacket as I don't believe it should leak with less than 6 months use. On my experience I wouldn't recommend the RevIt Poseidon suit to anyone. I'd suggest you save yourself some money and buy a different suit/brand. Rating: Could have had four/five stars, however due to the poor quality waterproofing I'm going to give it one star.I would post you some pictures of my jacket, but I don't have it, so here's some I found on the internet.

    Finally Happened

bastards!! Get well soon Grouch. Hopefully your bike isn't too damaged and the police will get their finger out. Hit and run isn't something they should take lightly. Of you have no luck with them contact your Police & Crime Commissioner or local MP. Lucky you weren't killed or worse.
  20. Great to hear. Was by Loch Ness last year, fantastic roads around there. Enjoy
  21. Great stuff, sounds like a fantastic day Am hoping to do the same when mine grow up, but quite a while before they'd be old enough to go pillion never mind riding their own. Though the daughter loves the motorbike although tells me to get a yellow one (it's white) - may have to buy a new one...
  22. If you ride in West Yorkshire, (or would visit West Yorkshire if greater consideration was given to motorcycles) then definitely voice your opinion
  23. MAG has been doing some excellent work in this area. Leeds Council has been actively against motorcycles until recently, and that is largely down to MAG. There's talk of trialing motorcycle use of bus lanes in Wakefield however Leeds Council have been actively resisting this for a good 10 years now... If you ride in West Yorkshire it's a good idea to raise the profile of motorcyclists in the consultation
