Yamaha offered many different final drive ratio's. Counter shaft sprocket's from 13t-16t, and the rear from 40t-51tT. The higher number of teeth on the rear sprocket will raise the ratio # The bigger the rear sprocket you lose top end speed but gain torque. It is the opposite on the countershft sprocket. Alot cheaper to work with the little sprocket.

Risky, I would not use that pump yet. The output could be more or less than required for you engine. Let me see if I can find the output volume and then you can install the pump and check it. Maybe you can adjust the pump stroke to suit your needs. If it was me I would probably send that pump back. The pump housing was used on many models.
  4. Can you restore them.
  5. Just keep watching e bay/ craiglist and such, one will show up.

You can put a points system out of a 1974 DT 250 A in which parts are fairly easy to find. You can go with a PVL Ignition which is around $500 or just make sure you win the next one on E BAY. The CDI Ignition system on your bike is old and bound to have more problems now and into the future. The parts are difficult to find. If you have a really nice bike I would just probably look into the analog PVL Ingnition and be done with it. You will probably end up spending more than that on the old system. Our you can do like me and buy all the spares you can find to insure you have parts for the future. Alot of the time you can find a "parts bike" at a good price with lots of spares. Good luck with your bike, it's a great one.

The rotor assembly used on the 1974 DT360 A is year specific as they only made this model one year. Unless you change your entire ignition system you are stuck finding this part. The part # is 445-85550-20-00. If you want a new one Speed & Sport has (1) avaliable for $287.33 or just keep trying to locate a new one. I would go after the next one you see, they don't come up often.
  8. All parts are still avaliable, what is missing on the bike, how much are you going to pay for it and what is the intended purpose for the bike once you own it.
  9. Watch E Bay and the swap meets. That cylinder is no longer avaliable.

Just send the seller a question and ask him if they are straight or not. Most all sellers want to make sure they have good feedback. If you are not going to bid on them I may go after them.

Are you looking for NOS Yamaha bars or a suitable replacement, If you want NOS I can find you some but if you are not restoring the bike I don't think they will be worth the price. The bars you are looking were used on the DT2 MX, RT2 MX, Both SC500 Models, YZ, 100,125, MX 125 C Models,MX 250 A, MX 360 A or you can have a set made and chromed for $250.

  21. Blackhat 250, you are good on the years except there was no DT 400 in 1974. The 1974 model was a 360 and it is green.
