  1. just seen the seat cover, too bad i already bought one, £20 from portugal... there may be a few blue DTs, but mine will be the only 50 probably!
  2. Its alive (click for video) Although my clocks are wired for a different loom, so that needs to be changed, they are wanting around £40 for a used set in bad shape on fleabay so im going to end up rewiring the lights on my existing one for the oil warning light (which isnt used on my loom) to fucntion as a high beam light for the time being. Also, when i indicate right the horn buzzes in time with the flashes... have double checked the wiring on the horn (pink and brown, giggity) and the wiring on the flasher unit (brown/white and brown/black) so that needs further investigation :/, and the expansion pipe that was supposed to be good is leaking from around the manifold and has a hole in it
  3. At first I was indecisive but now I'm not sure
  4. bikesure (thorugh the YOC thread) came back at £288 and they wouldn't take my 4 years existing no claims because i already used them when i bought the fireblade policy, is this normal? looks like i will be going with swinton at the moment.
  5. Paul found my dt50 tail light on the french ebay, and my side panel. £230 in petrol alone to go get that dt though...
  6. just seen THIS anyone fancy a road trip to the fatherland?.
  7. Hiya peeps. Im starting to look into insuring my DT project, but the cheapest quote i can find is for £107 from Swinton (FC), im 21 now with 4 years no claims, on a full licence, my old man is paying just less than £70 to insure a 1100 moto guzzi with 0 no claims . i know its not exactly a massive premium, but for a 50 that is going to spend most of its life indoors with an annual mileage of about 2000 it doesnt seem worth it O.o. has anyone had any luck with some other companies?
  8. Now who does that remind me of... . is the coolant in the tank getting hot and is there any evidence of flow?, personally i'd backflush the system with a hose pipe to double check that everything is clear in there, my dads old dodge had a similar problem, would run for a few minutes then brew up and overheat, turns out where it had been parked the antifreeze had gone off and formed a solid plug in the water pump outlet fitting. assuming thats all clear, water pump housing off and check that impeller, never had much experiance playing with LC systems on bikes so if all those are fine, im out of ideas
  9. Tank decals are on their way , gonna move it back home on friday as it would be criminal to leave it in the car park after all this hard work. it seems that NOBODY has a right-hand side panel plenty of left ones but no right ones.
  10. Its nice until the summer comes and then it gets filled with every poser on base coming to clean and polish their cars, weekends are usually good as its usually only me in there, i dont bother going down unless i can get a good 8 hours or more down there. Todays progress, forks rebuild and back together, the gators i bought are HUUUUGE and look f*cking rediculous so trying to find some originals, also waiting on my dust seals Through thermal shocking the planet gear (heat it with a blowtorch and dunk it in a water bath over and over) i managed to get it out, there was a slight issue with the little splined ring that transfers movement from the hub to the planetary gear but a little artistic licence got that sorted, but nevertheless its now been shotblasted, painted and reassembled Bash plate i robbed off one of the bikes i broke long ago, had to straighten it out as it was in pretty rough shape. And its more or less together, my new back wheel is waiting for me at home so by this time next week it should be rolling and i can get the seat cover stapled on
  11. Yes indeedy it is, most of the other DTs ive seen just have the universal tail light that you can get on eBay for a tenner, but its nice to have the original More progress tonight: After 30 years and what appears to be not a single rebuild, the stanchion bushes were stuck solid, not even mounting them in a vice and using the leg as a slide hammer would budge them... drastic times call for drastic measures (dont try this at home...) Every problem can be solved with brute force and ignorance, luckily it worked!. shotblasted the fork legs and sprayed them in zinc primer, then some gloss black and lacquer (no pics tho ) Also stripped down my old front wheel, it was in a right state, the bearings were stuck solid and wouldnt even spin, no massive worry as they are going in the bin anyway, am planning to get the rims rechromed and use this wheel as a bit of a practice to learn how to build up spoked wheels Shotblasted! Zinc primed! gonna rebuild the forks tomorrow, but on stripping down the front brake plate ive found the speedo drive assembly is completely fucked, the planetary gear which is driven by the wheel wont budge and with no access behind it im not sure how to free it up, but anyway its nearly midnight so f*ck this im going to bed.
  12. As above, first port of call is your rear light bulb, vibration and usage causes one or both of the filaments to fail, my XJ had two dual-filament bulbs in the rear light for redundancy, so if one blew you had another to last until you could replace it, on small bikes this isnt usually possible due to their compact build. as for the second one, the others pretty much hit it on the head, could need a bit of copperslip on the rear brake cam.
  13. Nearly there, forks left to refurb and front brake plate , going to repaint them sidepanels aswell. hoping to take it back down sa'af next month and get it MOT'd
  14. I've done nothing to deserve this.
  15. Hiya peeps as work progresses on the DT project i have decided to run it on an different set of original wheels whilst i take my time and restore the others, wheres the best place(s) to get the rims rechromed? and aside from using a DTI what methods of reassembling the wheels do you reccomend?
  16. Even i think thats fucked up Funny because its random though.
  17. will do, theres +0.25mm piston kits available so that should work. The workshop is currently a toasty 3'c, so there no way my paint is going to dry there, ive had to improvise...
  18. I have no such intentions you deviant! i am an honourable foamy
  19. Yep, hopefully under its own power all the way
  20. Hi peeps. As per the title, what size drain hoses do i need for Mikuni/TK 19mm carbs?, they look smaller than the standard fuel hose, maybe about 3mm, but i want to make sure i get the right ones.
