  1. Dont seem to be a lot of "jelly moulds" about tbh one things for sure they want a f*cking fortune for fairings!
  2. Hi peeps. Im sure im opening myself up to a barrage of "whatever you pay for it when your pissed foamy!" posts, but is there any specific guideline value for scrap bikes? Reason being the MC club at Cosford has recently started up again and there is F1 CBR600 Hurricane sat in the storage shed in pretty rough shape with flat tyres, no front fairing e.t.c and they've asked me to sort it out with the registered owner who has since left the services or they will have it scrapped. ideally i was going to break it for parts but am wondering what sort of price i may be looking at for it. cars tend to be £100/tonne at scrapyards but i cant seem to find any reference to motorbikes... any ideas? Foameh x
  3. I spent my first month at Benson as part of a technical evaluation team assessing the pros and cons of changing from mineral hydraulic oil to synthetic, it basically involved purging and changing the seals in all 3 hyd systems and was generally a pain in the ass, long story short we shitcanned the idea, but i learnt a lot about fluid properties
  4. As above, use the recommended fluid!, its only got to go wrong once and its game over. The compressability (or inability to compress, as it were) of brake fluids does not tend to change, our jets use bog standard hydraulic oil as brake fluid and they will generally touch down at 120kts, biggest difference will be in the general makeup of the oil (be it mineral OM15, synthetic or otherwise), the boiling point and compatibility with the various rubber seals and gaskets in your system. as for the brands, all brake fluid will have a conformity of sorts, in that it must pass a series of criteria to be safe for use, therefore regardless of wether you use Castro Dogsbolox or Halfrauds own brand, it will still do the same job safely.

  13. Hi peeps, In my quest for knowledge regarding my recently restored DT50MX, i'm now trying to contact the previous owner and find out a bit more about the bikes history and how it came to be. The only details are that the previous owner was 'Mrs Jillian Jones' from Manchester House in Tavernspite, Pembrokeshire who became the owner of my DT in 1999 (a year after the last tax disc expired so this was probably the point where it became a field bike), after a quick search it seems that she is no longer a resident at that address and the new resident does not have a forwarding address and has been at the address since 2011 (which narrows my search window down to a period of 12 years), According to Rightmove the property where the bike was previously registered to was being sold with fire and water damage at some point in the past (although the advert has been removed so i cannot find a date on it), the only reference to a fire in Tavernspite i can find is from a rather sparse news article which describes 3 fire crews responding to a fire in the roof of a property in mid 2010 (which corresponds with Rightmoves advert of the fire damaged property and is probably the point at which the previous resident moved out). perhaps somebody local on here may remember the fire? or know somebody who may?, or knew the previous owner at some point?. would be nice to be able to get a history of the bike is all, keeps me busy atleast. Foameh x
