  1. hi everyone. just a quick question, is it possible to fabricate a set of alternator brushes or do you have to buy originals from a dealer? ta Steve
  2. good luck to you mate! i'd best start getting ready for my ireland trip in May... very small in comparison (about 1000 miles over two weeks), doing about 50 miles a day and most of the time camping by the roadside or in the cheapest B&B i can find. just hope my trusty thrusty pocket rocket will get me there and back... keep us posted on how it goes

    New person!

welcome to the asylum, please dont feed the wildlife let us know how the DT rebuild is going, those little bikes are bulletproof and no matter what i put my DT50 through it will always be back running again with a little work with an adjustable spanner

    i won!!!

'09 R1 with full Micron exhaust system please
  5. put the filters back on as without them it will run weak and cause problems later on. also check the fuel line and tank for obstructions and give it a good run, get the engine nice and warm to get rid of any condensation and to get it all moving again.

  7. i thought posting pornography on this forum was against the rules?...
  8. dont worry Gas Up, its like Eastenders, a similar event will happen next week
  9. could be that the battery acid was mixed incorrectly causing it to loose its charge or there is something else left on which drains the battery. it doesnt take much to kill those little batteries, e.g. if your brake light switch is loose and the brake light is left on it will flatten the battery within the space of about 5-10 minutes after leaving it for an hour, check the voltage in the battery using a multimeter, then start it and check the voltage again (should be about 14v with the engine running) to make sure it is getting a charge

    Rechoming

hi everyone. are there any good places in/near berkshire where i can get my forks ground and re-chromed?, also some approximate costs my mates dad said he can get them rechromed through work, but would it be possible to prepare the forks by spinning them in the lathe and taking a few thou off until the chrome is gone? ta - Steve
  11. as far as careers advice it has been available but ive chosen my own career path(s) my first choice would be an aviation technician (mechanical) for the RAF, ive already passed the selection test and went for my interview last tuesday, now i just need to go for a medical and a fitness test and hopefully it should all go well and i will be able to get in. alternatively, an apprenticeship at AWE, took the aptitude test today and passed so just need to book an interview i was considering being a courier for something to do on the side, i love riding motorbikes and being out and about so it seemed a logical choice.
  12. thanks for the info Amanda, wasn't something i had really considered. think maybe being an S.E.R.V would be a better idea, still can't do it on the DT though.... maybe when the Jawa is on the road

  16. hi everyone. think ive found out why my Jawa is a bitch to start and wont run right, seems the little rubber bit that goes over the manifold end of the carb and into the reed block has perished slightly and is a bit of a loose fit, to the point where the carb can be moved/tilted/twisted by hand. but finding a replacement is proving to be a bit challenging. anyone know how i can fabricate/find a new carb rubber? (its a 28mm single carb), tried all the "Jawa specialists" but to no avail, nothing on the owners club webby either...
