Tyres?
looked on google for for the specs and its saying: Rear tyre is 90/90-17 Front tyre is: 100-90-18 got the two figures mixed up, my bad (http://www.fixya.com/motorcycles/p981306-jawa_640_style_super_luxe_2004) Yet on mine it has a 4.00-18 on the rear and 3.50-18 on the front... O.o

Tyres?
update: Jawa currently has a 3.50-18 on the front and a 4.00-18 on the rear ... what do all of these different numbers mean? does it really matter if i use different brands of tyre for front and back?, it already has an Avon on the front which has loads of tread left but the rear one has a bit of a square profile to it and needs replacing.

Yzf 400 Big ends gone??
did you have it running? the telltale sign is a constant knocking which increases as the revs rise, but if you have already stripped the engine down then as mentioned above check for up/down play on the con rod (hold the crankshaft and then move the con rod up and down/side to side e.t.c)

Tyres?
tried google, busters seem to be the cheapest ive found so far. havent solved the charging problems yet, will check the brushes today and replace them if needs be (new set is £10 mail order) i left my job at Currys, just couldn't stand it any longer, the amount of hastle i got off the customers and the managers was unbelievable. ive applied at some other places for work so im now waiting to hear back from them

Tyres?
hi everyone. just shopping around for some Jawa tyres, i think im after a 90/90-18 for the rear and a 100/90-18 for the front. whats the best place to get cheap tyres?, the front is okay but its been stood in a shed for 7 years so i would rather replace it, the rear deffo needs replacing. cheapest rear tyre i found is a Cougar 126 from busters - £26 http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/produ...p;kw=90%2f90+18 cheapest fornt is a Michelin pilot sporty - £38 http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/produ...;kw=100%2f90+18. the jawa restoration is coming along slightly but due to being out of a job i am focusing more on the mechanical side of the project now. sealed the carb and got it running today, starts first kick

Went for a ride this afternoon
My bike still has top trumps cards stuck to the spokes... last tiem i sat on it the handlebars were in my chest and the seat disappeared up my arse... ... ive had it for about 10 years though, so its to be expected that ive outgrown my little green jungle bike

tzr 50cc rear sus
white lining could indicate low tyre tread? give that a check as the legal limit is 1mm for motorcycles and "visible tread" for scooters suspension is probably designed to be hard because its a race rocket style bike, on my DT and most other trials bikes it is a lot softer because its designed for rough terrain

Im single!
tbh id much rather be tearing through a country road with a dollie grabbing onto my handles, much more macho than riding pillion with a woman rider... wouldn't be seen dead riding pillion on a scooter though... or riding a scooter at all for that matter... in response to the previous question; yes, the DT can take a pillion guess that has blown my wounded tactic... time to play possum instead...

High rev's at tick over and overheating
the air leak is the most likely cause of the erratic idling, had that problem with my jawa and it turned out there was a gasket missing from the reed valve assembly. the overheating would also be caused by the lean running, so check your system for perished seals, broken gaskets and rotten rubbers

Hmm... scooters... in normal circumstances i wouldn't touch them with a sh*tty stick. although the new Jogs look quite bitchin', and the Speedfights can really fly if you derestrict them right. suppose we all gotta start somewere eh? Whats the matter, Goff?... afraid my overwhelming youth would give you a heart attack? (not to mention heart ache?) i promise i'll be gentle (BTW, i'd prefer a copy of Superbike to Hustler...)

Young blood
thats my point, theres not enough of us young'ens riding to replace the oldies, Biking seems to be a dieing sport

Young blood
lol, i sometiems go out riding around town with some friends on peds in the evening just for something to do... now that is a proper laugh. the noise as the modified Peugeot speedfights and the Jog R with a hole in the exhaust blast down the link road is like high-pitched thunder, then a loud bang as the chinese crosser spills its guts out all over the road. oh, and of coarse i can beat all of them in a straight-line drag 'cus i got gears! it must have been good in your day if you could ride up to 250... atleast then you could get places without being late

Goff and more ink
ive warned you before about teasing me... that ink looks very good though, too bad im 2 years too young to get a 'tat... ¬¬

Vintage Yamahas

Indicators failed!
if the relay is not supplying a reading then that is most likely the fault. replace that and try the indicators again also test your regulator/rectifier unit as this may have caused the relay to fail in the first place

New Member, Old Bikes
check all the connections between carb/reed valve/engine first, as far as gaskets its probably more worth buying a roll of gasket paper and making your own, ive had to make a side case gasket for my DT and base gaskets for the DT (twice), one for the Jawa and also one to go between the carb and reed valve. now you have cleaned the clutch up have you tried bumpstarting it?

Weekend at the coast
hi everyone. im on my easter holidays now and dont know what to do with myself and im planning a little trip down to the coast for next weekend. i got the majority of my kit sorted out (compact two-man tent, sleeping bag, hexamine stove, spare clothes) e.t.c and a mate of mine wants to come along aswell on his 'Zuki RMX50, so should be a right laugh. down to southampton is about 38 miles which shouldn't take too long, heading from Newbury down through Andover and then on to Southampton because its B-roads all the way and a lot easier on fifties. leaving early friday afternoon and returning sunday evening, i should even be able to make it there and back on a full tank. i can't wait until the summer when i can do some real touring! pics will be posted upon return - Steve
