my first thought would be one of the bearings, take the barrel off and just give it a good go-over
-
this thread has warped my fragile little mind
-
i use the back of my glove, its got a special "visor wipe" strip which is quite effective
-
can i still ride my Jawa 350 at 17?
-
Engine only makes a pop noise when i kick start my DT50

is it backfiring?, check your piston for scores as if it has been chewed up then it will not start, check your oil level to see if its empty -
air leak at the head = low compression = no starty. shouldn't have sanded the head really, try using a slightly thicker gasket and see if that fixes anything, alternatively i would think you need a new head

its top-end and pickup will be slightly reduced but not drastically. if it already has the standard (unmodified) exhaust then you shouldn't need to rejet, however, if the exhaust has been replaced by a sports can or has had the restrictors drilled out then you will possibly need to go down a jet size but do a plug chop after you fit the standard airbox and see how you go with that

she's a real beauty mate, sorry to hear about your loss (theres some real assholes in this world arent they?) im'a keep a lookout down here in berkshire
-
what about the honda dominator?, saw one outside george whites once but didnt get a chance to have a good look alternatively, anyone had any experiance with the XT350/400 bikes?, these keep turning up on ebay for under £1000
-
my dt doesnt have disk brakes... there some good deals to be had at the George Whites outlet centre, gloves for £10 a pop
-
the website got it wrong, the tyres on my Jawa are 4.00-18 on the rear and 3.50-18 on the front so... would a 100.90.18 fit the back wheel of my jawa?
-
does it bog down when you open the throttle, or overheat? need a bit more info on how it runs before we can diagnose the problem. my DT50 will do 45 but i have had to modify the engine and add new sprockets, so 45 for a vintage 100 may not be that bad
-
sorry to hear about your off m8, hopefully you will be back on the road in no time! i turn into a right miserable bastard when im off the DT, even if its just for a couple of days.

JJB have asked me to start work on saturday, so looks like my weekend is just going to be a sunday ride at the coast... still, better than sitting at home pulling wedgies out of my arse

hey everyone, is it actually worth running an in-line filter between the petcock and carb seeing as most petcocks have filters on them anyway?
-
compression tester, basically just a pressure gauge that screws into the spark plug hole and shows you how much pressure there is in the cylinder. the only sure way of doing it. alternatively, take the piston out and physically check for wear on the piston and rings, tell-tale signs include scorching that goes below the piston crown (black deposits that go down past the piston rings
-
does it kickstart when warm?
-
have you tested for compression?,

Nice little bike you got there, here i am still stuck on my pathetic little peashooter... once upon a time i thought i had the fastest 50 on the road, overtaking all the chavs on their Speedfights and Jog Rs with my feet up on the mudguard and waving... then one of my mates got an Aprillia RS50... welcome to the asylum, er... forum... enjoy your stay

race ya for it... -
super tenere is a possibility, id prefer to keep it cheap and simple so BMW isnt really practical. Yamahead: fancy selling it?
-
just been into probike and saw a very nice Suzuki DR-400S, nice tall seat and very comfy but not yamaha... Tenere looks like the best solution for me so will have to start saving. will be touring ireland in no time XD

have you done the standard things like check plug cap and switch resistance? also things like points/CDI?

Hi everyone. i've given up on cars now, im sticking to bikes for a few years and am now looking for my next one. so which one should i get?. im 5'8, soon to be 17 and dont like to be huddled up on a sports bike (although the GSX650F is very nice...) and also intend to do a fair bit of touring next year, im not bothering with 125s as i will be doing my full test and getting a real bike instead. would prefer to stay with an enduro bike, the XT range imparticular seem to be quite good but what are they like to tour on? input appreciated Steveo
