  1. well ive had the jawa since february 08, but after august 09 i joined the services and now have very little time to travel home and play with the jawa :/ does the divi use 36mm forks aswell? ive only noticed them on my XJ600(F), and if i change the yokes am i not going to need to change the headstock bearings and such? ridden it around the garden/fields and also up and down our little cul-de-sac a few times (only to test it, ofc... )
  2. Hey peeps. just been reading through the squires thread, kinda made me think about my old DT and the smell of two stroke... and also my old Jawa and the smell of two stroke and the 'agro its caused me over the past year and a bit ive had it... so, im thinking of getting it back on the road... however, after the slight mishap with the forks and the late mr JimR (not seen him in aaaages!), ive given up on the stock jawa forks... now, here comes my brilliant idea... when rebuilding the XJs forks, i happened to notice that it uses 36mm fork stanchions, same size as the jawa, and the bike is more or less the same height and the same sort of shape (tourer-ish) albeit the jawa is about 50kg lighter. so, with that in mind, would i be able to; A: use a complete set of forks, front wheel and braking system from an XJ in my existing Jawa yokes B: use only a set of stanchions and the internal workings from an XJ with my existing Jawa braking system/wheel unit. if i can find an answer to this question, maybe i can coax the jawa up to Squires '11 (i really hope there will be another one, never got a chance to go to the last one!)
  3. Fuck, feel like i really missed out ... there'll be one next year... wont there?... im tempted to get cracking with the jawa again, but thats a complete 'nother can of worms
  4. my dt used to start first kick without choke, be it in pissing rain or the heat of summer, if your is struggling sometimes my first idea would be to check the various rubbers for signs of an airleak, 46 seems reasonable for a DT50, they are only aircooled and if you have been using it for a while then it may put up a bit of a fight when you try and thrash it. its a 20-something year old bike, with 5 gears, going faster than it was designed to go, with a piston the size of an egg, its a bit like getting wine from a turnip theres only so far you can push it
  5. dont sell it, you WILL be sorry... worst mistake i did was sell my DT , even if it did bite me in the ass a couple of times when i abused it... now its gone i really want it back but if you do want to sell it let me know , thats a very tidy bike i must say though, are you going to lock it away behind closed doors and never let it see a cloud or use it as an everyday classic?

Dont mock!... ... reminds me of when my trusty thrusty DT let go on me on that country road one cold october night... come home plod
  9. got some crash bars coming already
  10. mainly because im looking for a bit more comfort on the XJ, im only 5'7 but i still have to get hunkered over the tank to get out of the wind (having said that i have been riding it flat out most of the time, 120mph w00t), not really something i want to be doing for hours on end on the motorway, that screen looks like it will offer a bit more protection, although it says standard so may have to ring them up and check
  11. gross... :/, you know i aint into that shit...
  12. Hi everyone. just been looking for a bigger screen for my XJ600, came across this and wondered if it will fit: http://www.motorcycleheaven.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2110_190_522_554&products_id=1370 also, am i right in thinking that my 1989 XJ600 (pre diversion) is also known as an XJ600F? as always, any help will be rewarded with hobnobs -Steve
  13. i think you will find im the one who left it, drewp...
  14. i suppose i should get a pooch, with Goff going i will have no outlet for my affection
  15. i see you found my note then
  16. awh its a DT! ^^ will always have a soft spot for those bikes, even if it isnt a 50 :/.
  17. swish , you may wake up sometime next summer with a foamy asleep on your front lawn, lol
  18. its a good shape of bike, slightly retro styling . got my eye on a set of engine crash bars, maybe modify them for some more weather protection for my little feets.
  19. that looks absolutely awesome ... i want a go!
  20. pats back garden? O.o, wassat? and if that little rack is all thats needed i can probably fizz something together out of bar stock and tube, i cant afford £66!
  21. im feeling blackpool 'luminations mid-october for a weekend, then ROI next summer having looked at that carrier, it doesnt have any support for the panniers :/, i used to have a wickle pedal bike with panniers on it and they had framework they clipped onto :/
  22. if it is doing 45 as standard, no doubt it has already been modified, mine was stock when i got it apart from an exhaust system and that did 35. but with a 60cc bore kit, fibre reeds, biggest front sprocket i could find, smallest rear socket i could find, cone air filter and just about anything else i could find for it, i got 55 out of mine maximum speed, trouble was being only a five speed it would be revving its bollocks off and overheat if you took it about 40mph for more than about 5 minutes. dont fuck with it, thats about as fast as it will ever be, keep it in good condition until your old enough for a big bike, then sell me the DT oh, and if i didnt say before, dont fuck with it
