well, they came off 2-stroke 70cc generators, and i've used a couple of garden strimmers, they are more than likely going to fit a mini moto, bring it over and try it if you like

wow, that's impressive... did you do a plug chop to check the mixture?, that'd be my first port of call... as for the fuel, petrol (or "Gasoline" for you guys) has a typical shelf life of 6-8 weeks, filling a jerry can a year ago and then using it in your bike probably wasnt the best thing to do, you've already discounted the spark plug range so you are left with a leaking magneto seal (possible but unlikely), too lean carb mixture is more probable, ignition timing is also worth checking seeing as your bike is a 74 and probably running on points (check your manual for correct settings), faulty CDI is unlikey, compression ratio shouldnt be too much of an issue assuming that the head gasket was changed when the barrel was last off. having said that looks like you've done your homework on symptoms, definately check the mixture and ignition timing though, and as for splitting the cases it would be advisable seeing as all thoser little metallic fragments could now be dry-humping your bearings and bushes

  11. im not 100% familiar with this model of bike... but shouldnt that drain tube (copper pipe sticking up from the bottom of the float bowl) be straight? it was on my DT50, it is on my XJ600 and the 650 Turbo, this could explain the leaking fuel as the tube is draining fuel from a level below your float cut-off point

Hi everyone, i have a bit of a strange request for you today... does anyone have a sidecar outfit i could borrow for a day or two? i am just out of my 2 year 33bhp restriction period so it doesnt matter exactly what it is... reason being future Mrs Foamy wants to go to her prom on the back of one of my bikes but that just isn't practical when wearing a dress (so she tells me, i dont tend to wear dresses...), so if anyone has a jawa/ural/mz/whatever else with a sidecar that they would lend me the use of for a couple of days i would be forever gratefull, payment would be provided ofc. please let me know peeps, i will be your tame foamy Love foameh x

Could be a laxy starter with worn brushes, what mileage has it got?... my first check would be the earth from the starter motor or the starter relay as a bad earth could easily cause high resistance and lead to a reduction in circuit performance The cutting out sounds a lot like wiring loom, check where the wires go through the headstock as often these turn into plastic plugs which can become loose over time and unplug themselves when you turn to full lock as the wires tend to pull apart, my old DT was the worst for doing that
  20. wild foamy replied to JoeS's post in a topic in General
i think wht you're refering to is the fuel tap, on my DT it could be turned through 360' with no problem
  21. stopping off in cyprus tomorrow and back in the UK the day after, work on the XJ will be continuing again!, frame is already powdercoated and i will be doing some minor repairs to the engine and shotblasting it over the weekend

eBay is your best bet, no way of telling just how genuine it is though, failing that check out your local yamaha dealer or ghostbikes.co.uk

from my experiance LEDs are good for being seen by others but don't tend to project much light, it would be alright for the sidelight/running light but for dipped and main beam you'd be better off with a good quality 12v Halogen bulb such as the Phillips ones

Its much more polite at the lights to look at the other rider, flip your visor down, blip the throttle and then nod, most of them seem to take notice of you then
  25. Wow, V-twins sure are popular! , must be a lot of harley riders amongst us
