  1. Not sure how vac lines would have petrol in them though, without an exploded diagram i am completely lost on this one...
  2. Strange, my SR used to need choke to start until it was nice and hot but then again there's a reason why i called it project mong. Ah well, the new owner is happy with it and thats all that matters tbh,
  3. Looking at a picture on ebay... it looks asthough the drain lines are actually balance lines or something of the sort? on mine they are just short lines coming from each of the carb bowls (one of them appears to have been plugged by the previous owner)
  4. Ended up doing the fibreglassing in 2-parts (upper and lower) otherwise i wouldnt be able to get the blank back out, at some point during the first stage the blank collapsed slightly causing a bulge in one side, but nothing a bit of creative fibreglassing cant fix. the lower part is now setting so hopefully by this time tomorrow i can get it mounted, cut my seat pan and foam cut to fit over the weekend, maybe if i can get some decent seat covering material i will look at gelcoating the new tail piece, mount the new tyres next week and finalise all the wiring. it didnt help that the cafe racered XZ i was looking at on google for reference was actually a photoshopped version as now i am struggling t find homes for all the electrical gubbins , regulator will be under the seat pan for sure though. however, another problem has reared its head... Linked up a mini moto fuel tank to get it started, when filled with fuel it just pissed out of the bottom of the carbs (overflow i think? they arent connected to anything), and then whilst turning over it wont fire but i am getting positive pressure coming back through the #2 carb , i can deal with flatslides but these downdraft ones are new territory to me, anyone care to hazard a guess at whats going wrong?
  5. i had a brief look at mine when i had it, i think theres supposed to be a spring clip which goes into the top of the retaining nut that holds the choke assembly in, i just put an o-ring inbetween the nut and the spring on mine and it did the trick
  6. Oh dear... Don't tease the cagers Mallory, most of them appear to be suicidal anyway! Although I don't like to make a habit of it, was sat at some lights in the middle of town on the DT, sneezed and instinctively let go of the clutch to catch it (behind a full face helmet... Clever me), bike jumped forward and stalled, lights turn green, all my other mates roar off and I'm trying to get the fucker started in front if beeping traffic.
  7. Speed us just a straight one-for one swap its the ratios in the clock that change it from km to mph, held on by two nuts underneath The choke in my SR used to spring back in aswell, no idea why and it worked so left it as it was
  8. nah, will run with the tank it has until squires, then look in to getting a new one made, got some details of some guys in devon that Drewps used for his tracker so will drop it down there some time in september and see what they can do for me. shame it doesnt have a kickstart, then i could just run a smaller battery and not have to worry about where to put it.
  9. The new sabbath track is pretty good imho, but in danger of being overplayed especially on Kerrang
  10. visor down, throttle blip to let people know im here, keep looking straight ahead, stay emotionless, makes you seem all mysterious and stuff, chicks love it... Pulled up at a set of lights on the Telford roundabout just off the M54 a few weeks ago, two paddies in a van next to me, one of them shouts "wanna race", i give the fireblade a nice long rev and the paddy thinks the lights have changed and fucks off straight through the middle of the traffic... some people just cant be helped!
  11. We got delayed in cyprus on the way to afghan once, for 4 days all we had was the kit we were stood in and an overnight bag, so with nothing to wear out to the pub we decided to make our own fancy dress, the first night it was a toga party (bedsheets, flip flops and the military issue green belt), the next night was whatever we could beg/borrow/steal/make. I went as bo-peep, using an old tablecloth we "borrowed" from the cookhouse, a bathmat and a treebranch i found. a few of the other lads from my unit went as my sheep, its amazing what you can do with cotton wool and some facepaint
  12. No ive got a brand new set of them, avon AM26 front and rear, won them for £120 which is slightly more than i would have wanted to pay but considering M&P want about £150 for a set its still better than buying brand new
  13. Blimey, that's a tall bike!. Reminds me of seeing someone getting on to a big beamer GS at Loomies cafe one day, he had to pull it over on the side stand, slide onto the seat from the side and then push the bike up off the stand, suspension travel was massive and he wasnt exactly a fat bloke either. How tall are you btw? I would think that a bike like yours wouldnt be suitable for vertically challenged types (im only 5'6, or 5'7 in heels) which is the only thing thats putting me off getting a larger tourer type bike
  14. nah the trailer is mine , i had to drag one of the DT50s out of the shed to make room for the guzzi. Im on the lookout for one now... could do the miles effortlessly on that!, if i lean forward on the seat it tickles my bollocks, quite enjoyable tbh
  15. Oh really, sarcasm?... that's exactly what i need...
  16. Well that is one nice looking XJ!, i didnt know a pre-div could look that good!
  17. Hey peeps. Since the old man can no longer fit behind the fireblade tank, he has decided to go for something a bit more docile, and seeing as i am on a riders policy with MCE i went with him to pick it up and here it is: Also has a full set of luggage with it, lots of toys, rode it 120 miles back home and felt fine when i got off, not like on the fireblade!
  18. You can stay the fuck away from my tent at squires!
  19. wild foamy

    puncture

That green goo is a load of shite! Both my XJ tyres were full of it when I bought it and it caused grief trying to balance the wheels which as a result caused front end wobble at high speed.
  20. God help you if DirtyDT sees you twinc, this thread will get move to another section!
