  1. not 100% sure how they work, but the drains basically would have some fuel pipe attached to it which would just direct the fuel away from the engine so it can be dumped somewere safe.
  2. my reserve is abot 1.5 litres i think, should get me a good 20+ miles i think assuming im not thrashing it in my normal manner

thats so coooool . too bad you will be hiding it under the leathers... ive got another year and 9 months to wait for mine, full length snake down my left arm
  4. lol, aint it so true the multiple choice questions are laughable...
  5. well, on my DT they are fuel drains, i would think yours would be the same. does it run without them?
  6. Hi everyone. what price would i get if i was to sell my DT50MX, its got a lot of features on it and now ive sorted out the carb and mixture its been very reliable. its 1990, got 24,000 miles on the clock, brand new tyres, good brakes and clutch, all new control cables, new wheel bearings, Acerbis headlamp, renthal bars, carbon effect indicators, Reinforced handguards, new chain and sprockets, spare set of tyres (with legal tread), pod filter, Bigone exhaust and expansion chamber. its also got new piston rings in it which have about 50 miles on them, spare set of brand new piston rings, brand new in box big bore kit, V5C, HPI Clear, Old MOT certificates, 9 months Tax and MOT, Haynes manual, Yamaha publication brochure, old tax disks and various other bits of paperwork. so realistically, what is a good price for it? - Steve Pics attached
  7. This poor little DT is starting to show its age now... not sure if it will take me that far :s ... one way to find out...
  8. blimey, thats a long way... hmm...
  9. Hi everyone. just wondering, how far is it (avoiding motorways and dual carriageways) is it from John O'groats to lands end? and where can i get a decent set of road tyres? (3.00/18" and 2.75/21") - Steve
  10. green lanes are scary, all that mud, leaves and shite across the road and me batting along with my knobbly tyres...
  11. if fans are kicking in could it be overheating?, just a thought...
  12. 'fraid im not familiar with YPVS, that basically an electronic restriction? (like on the CDI?) there should be some walkthroughs on here somewere regarding a plug chop, but basically: ride your bike down the street and let it rev out before you change gear, cut the engine and coast into your driveway/garage, take the spark plug out and have a look at it, if it is white, blistered and/or has "whiskers" on it then this indicates a lean running engine, if it is black and sootey this indicates an engine running rich, and ideal mixture would leave a chocolatey brown colour on the top of the spark plug. quite often you will need to remove the airbox to get enough room to fit a 29mm K&N style air filter, on mine i had to remove the rubber pipe connecting the engine to the airbox and cut a bit out of the front of my airbox to fit it, but it is a cheap and worthwhile mod especially on these free-reving two strokers
  13. go up to about a 220-230, buy a few at one time and experiment, do a plug chop and find which jet works best for you. are you running any other mods?, K&N filter?
  14. thats a beauty!, but i dont have the cash right now this moment
  15. Probike quoted me £35 for just the cover! back to ebay it is then...
  16. do you have a haynes manual?, if not tis a good idea to get one as it will include all details and walkthroughs of timing and valves e.t.c timing marks should be on the cam gears, usually two dots on each gear that line up. only four stroke ive ever reset the timing on was a Honda GX250 Generating set, turned out a valve had dropped off inside the cylinder
  17. i have to ride whatever the weather, I've spent 16 years catching lifts off people and they are either late or take "detours" to do the shopping first or pick up a mate or other stuff, i can't stand to wait for people screwing around so now i have my own transport i love my little DT really, sure it breaks down a lot and i keep falling off it, but it gives me independence to go where i want and when i want... think i may have to let it go though
  18. preferably a dirt/trials bike as i like the riding position and general styling of them. however i may consider a sports bike for the right price...
  19. yeh but trailer tent axles are self-contained units with suspension, readily available and easy to fit hence why i would rather use them, however if a rear axle does crop up from somewere then thats something to consider. its only going to be carrying my DT and maybe something a bit bigger (400?) in a couple of years so it doesnt need to be braked or have heavy duty suspension. i got some plans drawn up and a rough sketch on my workshop floor of the size of the thing, do i need to register it to be road legal? including towhitch it will be 10ft long by 3ft wide
  20. how far away from Newbury (RG14) is suffolk?, if i can get there avoiding motorways then i can come have a look during the summer holidays (13th-21st Feb) i just dont want to end up with some pokey, horrible, un-stylish little peashooter that wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding and falls down every hole it comes too

    car drivers

Gas-up: Classic example, DONT TAKE IT LYING DOWN if that twat in the volvo had hit you then you would have been able to take him to court and no doubt he would have been punished for dangerous driving aswell as other offences. even on my DT50 i dont take shit from anyone who thinks just because they have a big range rover the rules of the road dont apply to them, if someone tries to overtake me in a stupid place i stand my ground

    new here

lol, good stuff.. welcome to the forum, i know those DT50s' can be horrible little bastards when they dont want to go, so if you need any help just let us know
  23. theres nothing i love more than tinkering, repairing, replacing and rebuilding things, so i dont mind having to do some work on it aslong as it isnt too rusty, dont want to be forever welding the floor back in... the 1.3 capris, although nice, are said to be somewhat gutless and are rare as rocking horse sh*te, the 1.6s' are very nice and there was a very tidy one on ebay not too long ago for £699 (classified ad) which just needed a bit of paint tidying up but did not need welding or anything major and structural.
  24. yeh, if i can find one for a good price then thats something to consider... oh, and it must be blue, i got blue leathers and a blue helmet to match my DT50 so the new bike must be blue
  25. i can TIG and MIG weld, havent tried ARC welding yet though... gonna go to the local scrapyard and see if i can find me some goodies... preferably a set of axles off a trailer
