  1. thats my point, theres not enough of us young'ens riding to replace the oldies, Biking seems to be a dieing sport
  2. lol, i sometiems go out riding around town with some friends on peds in the evening just for something to do... now that is a proper laugh. the noise as the modified Peugeot speedfights and the Jog R with a hole in the exhaust blast down the link road is like high-pitched thunder, then a loud bang as the chinese crosser spills its guts out all over the road. oh, and of coarse i can beat all of them in a straight-line drag 'cus i got gears! it must have been good in your day if you could ride up to 250... atleast then you could get places without being late
  3. ive warned you before about teasing me... that ink looks very good though, too bad im 2 years too young to get a 'tat... ¬¬
  4. would be nice if i could get a classic car but i would never get insured on it being so young
  5. if the relay is not supplying a reading then that is most likely the fault. replace that and try the indicators again also test your regulator/rectifier unit as this may have caused the relay to fail in the first place
  6. check all the connections between carb/reed valve/engine first, as far as gaskets its probably more worth buying a roll of gasket paper and making your own, ive had to make a side case gasket for my DT and base gaskets for the DT (twice), one for the Jawa and also one to go between the carb and reed valve. now you have cleaned the clutch up have you tried bumpstarting it?
  7. hi everyone. am looking to respray my DT as the first paintjob i did i used the wrong laquer and now that ive got the odd splash of petrol on it the paintwork on the tank looks a bit crap. but whats the best way to get those acrylic tank protectors off without damaging them?, i qute like the one ive got and dont want to have to buy another one

  9. i suppose its basically just a ram air intake? would be interested to see how it works out, keep us posted
  10. hi everyone. im on my easter holidays now and dont know what to do with myself and im planning a little trip down to the coast for next weekend. i got the majority of my kit sorted out (compact two-man tent, sleeping bag, hexamine stove, spare clothes) e.t.c and a mate of mine wants to come along aswell on his 'Zuki RMX50, so should be a right laugh. down to southampton is about 38 miles which shouldn't take too long, heading from Newbury down through Andover and then on to Southampton because its B-roads all the way and a lot easier on fifties. leaving early friday afternoon and returning sunday evening, i should even be able to make it there and back on a full tank. i can't wait until the summer when i can do some real touring! pics will be posted upon return - Steve
  11. Welcome to the asylum, er... sorry, forum! what are the XT600s like to ride?, quite like the dual sport style bikes because they are soo much comfier than the sports bikes, may be looking to get one of the XT660s next year.
  12. could it be water in the petrol cap? as for the stalling is it instantly cutting out or gradually fading? next time it stalls check the spark and note the colour on the end of the spark plug. i would reccomend thoroughly draining the tank and fuel system, drying it out and rebuilding it piece by piece to eliminate any moisture in the system

oh i see, no i wasnt calling her a beast in such a derogatory way, merely that she can be very dominating... all this riding has been messing with my mind, i seem to have a passion for leather (usually onle jackets, but i keep an open mind)

she wont be happy when i tell her i aint got a pic... better tart myself up a bit and plug the webcam in
  16. if it turns over then its not a seized piston, could be lack of compression although i doubt it if you said you had it running monday is the spark plug wet on the end? (indicating fuel in the chamber) if not it could be soiled reed blocks that have just gunked up, try adding a couple of teaspoons of premix petrol into the chamber through the spark plug hole and see if you can get it to fire that way usually a good bump-start can get any bike running, i assume your doing it the "Foamy" way by putting it in second, holding the clutch in, running down the road like a looney before dropping the clutch and running/pushing the bike along... and if that bike is a jawa, repeating the process 5 or 6 times before getting bored and buggering off inside to have a warm cup of coffee
  17. huh, just made me think, 6 months time and i will be in your position and hopefully will be tearing around Berkshire on a Jawa 350, or possibly a CB250 congrats on passing.
  18. hi everyone. just wandering, are there any other 50cc L-plate riders or am i here all on my tod? i know theres some 125 riders on the forum but it appears that i am the only 16yo rider here could it be that biking is more for old farts and mid-life crisis sufferers?

Horaay... Foamys' time to shine... dont s'pose you're free to meet up any time soon eh Goff?, i know a place does great coffee and has the most beautiful view of the river, in the evenings when the sun is low over the water its like something magical...
  24. ive owned a DT... if that doesnt make me a mechanic i dont know what does... cheapest quote i got on a 1L suzuki swift was £1600, but if i have it on my mums policy it quotes around £2,800 because i would still be the registered keeper/owner/driver... WTF? to hell with this, maybe i just invest in a set of heated hand grips for the Jawa
