DT 175MX reed valves
settings change according to what mods you have and individual running conditions. as suggested above, check for leaks, perished seals, e.t.c

Automatic clutch
think of it like the DeLorean from back to the future, you need enough road to get it up to 88mph

Piston Oil scraper ring
you really dont want to hear about what i've put my DT through then... im surprised it hasn't completely died and gone to the scrapheap in the sky... or maybe in a previous life it was a very bad bike, and now its punishment is to spend eternity being ridden by one 16 year-old after another, each adding their own "modification" and thrashing the bollocks off it to try and catch up with their mates TZR50

the big blue dragon does indeed have all its cogs, no dentures required

Automatic clutch
that technique has been adapted now for scooters... stand on the back footpegs and lean back as far as you can, rev it and hold the back break on, let the brake go and pull the front of the bike up, should give an impressive wheelie. mate of mine managed to throw down his week old peugeot speedfight in budgens carpark when he pulled a wheelie and slipped off the back, there were 3 or 4 of us sat on our bikes who all promptly doubled over with laughter, was an impressive sight though, quite possibly the longest crash in history

DT50 MX engine problems
whey, another DT owner i've had that problem before, first time it was the jets needed changing up a size and the second my carb was loose and leaking air. so: 1: check your fuel system for loose fittings, leaks, perished seals e.t.c 2: run it up and down the road a bit at full throttle, then cut the engine and coast to a stop, take the spark plug out and check what colour it is on the end (should be a chocolatey brown, but i suspect it will be white and chalky indicating a lean run) 3: take the carb bowl off and tell us what size the main jet is. also, list any other engine mods you have, the age of the bike, its mileage and preferably a bit about its history, most likely case is that the jets are not big enough causing it to run lean, heat up and ceise these bikes are extremely hardy and it takes a lot to kill them, i've made some mistakes with mine in the past and ceised it up, blown a big bore kit e.t.c, but with the help of the Yamaha Owners Club i have managed to fix most problems quite quickly

DT 175MX reed valves
did you change the fuel mixture?, if you have added a free-flowing pipe and larger reeds you should adjust the carb for more fuel flow to counteract the increased airflow. lean bikes can be hard to start...

Automatic clutch
had the Jawa up on blocks in the garden checking that all the gears were engaging, couldn't get it past second just riding it around the estate the forks are being swapped for a set of RD350 forks, so that will rpboably help when landing the wheelies

Automatic clutch
its got oil in it i think... ooh sh*t, should really have checked that before running it
-
Automatic clutch
hi everyone. found out yesterday that the jawa has an automatic clutch, meaning that when you move the gear lever to change gear, it will disengage the clutch, select the gear and wont engage the clutch again until you move the lever back to centre without even having to touch the clutch lever. is this a common thing on most bikes and how does it work? im quite amazed, lol!

Sealing exhaust?
aslong as its bigger and faster than the DT i dont mind, lol. also it tends to pop and spit oil from the join in the exhaust system and i would prefer to have it sealed up so it sounds a bit nicer. starts first kick ever time
-
tzr 50 restrictions
try it with the size 100 jet as this will increase the fuel flow into the engine
-
Sealing exhaust?
hi everyone been tinkering with my Jawa over the holidays and finally got it running nicely, but it seems that it is blowing from the joint where the exhaust headers meet the expansion chambers, is there a way i can seal this up as no doubt this will have some effect on how the bike runs (lack of backpressure). took it for a spin around the estate and its got a lot of go to say the least!

DT urgent help!
my first thought would be one of the bearings, take the barrel off and just give it a good go-over

New motorbike test
can i still ride my Jawa 350 at 17?

Engine only makes a pop noise when i kick start my DT50
is it backfiring?, check your piston for scores as if it has been chewed up then it will not start, check your oil level to see if its empty

wrf450cylinder head air leak
air leak at the head = low compression = no starty. shouldn't have sanded the head really, try using a slightly thicker gasket and see if that fixes anything, alternatively i would think you need a new head
- Tyres?

tzr 50 restrictions
its top-end and pickup will be slightly reduced but not drastically. if it already has the standard (unmodified) exhaust then you shouldn't need to rejet, however, if the exhaust has been replaced by a sports can or has had the restrictors drilled out then you will possibly need to go down a jet size but do a plug chop after you fit the standard airbox and see how you go with that
