Hi there, welcome to the Asylum, er... forum. make sure you dont annoy Goff to much, and speak a bit louder when you're talking to Drewpy
  2. i second the woodstove paint, cleaned most of the rust and sh*t off my downpipe with a wirebrush and then gave it a couple of coats of paint, seems to be holding up well also used it to touch up the cases, some fo the paint rubs off where my boots are always up against them
  3. yep, saw the whole program on iplayer earlier tonight, was awesome XD
  4. yes, this is the Big blue dragon im talking about (jawa), it seams the standard "Style" bikes had a set of spannies, where as the "De Lux" versions had chrome one-piece pipes, so i dont think these are aftermarket. will probably try the silicone gasket trick and see if that helps
  5. a Tachometer is the "proper" name for a rev counter so its the tacho cable you need EDIT: im assuming this is the TDR125, as you have no other bikes listed in your profile?
  6. just watched the MotoGP on iplayer, should make the journey there a bit more interesting. knee down over the magic roundabout, hell yes!
  7. even then i doubt the mainboard would be able to take such a high spec CPU. you will most likely have to replace the mainboard and CPU, and on a laptop that is easier said than done
  8. friend of mine hit a pidgeon along the B-roads a few days ago, he wasn't hurt and the pidgeon was fine, but it made me laugh
  9. me and my matey will be along on Sunday at approx midday, should be able to hear us coming a mile off! ^^
  10. settings change according to what mods you have and individual running conditions. as suggested above, check for leaks, perished seals, e.t.c
  11. think of it like the DeLorean from back to the future, you need enough road to get it up to 88mph
  12. you really dont want to hear about what i've put my DT through then... im surprised it hasn't completely died and gone to the scrapheap in the sky... or maybe in a previous life it was a very bad bike, and now its punishment is to spend eternity being ridden by one 16 year-old after another, each adding their own "modification" and thrashing the bollocks off it to try and catch up with their mates TZR50
  13. the big blue dragon does indeed have all its cogs, no dentures required
  14. that technique has been adapted now for scooters... stand on the back footpegs and lean back as far as you can, rev it and hold the back break on, let the brake go and pull the front of the bike up, should give an impressive wheelie. mate of mine managed to throw down his week old peugeot speedfight in budgens carpark when he pulled a wheelie and slipped off the back, there were 3 or 4 of us sat on our bikes who all promptly doubled over with laughter, was an impressive sight though, quite possibly the longest crash in history
  15. whey, another DT owner i've had that problem before, first time it was the jets needed changing up a size and the second my carb was loose and leaking air. so: 1: check your fuel system for loose fittings, leaks, perished seals e.t.c 2: run it up and down the road a bit at full throttle, then cut the engine and coast to a stop, take the spark plug out and check what colour it is on the end (should be a chocolatey brown, but i suspect it will be white and chalky indicating a lean run) 3: take the carb bowl off and tell us what size the main jet is. also, list any other engine mods you have, the age of the bike, its mileage and preferably a bit about its history, most likely case is that the jets are not big enough causing it to run lean, heat up and ceise these bikes are extremely hardy and it takes a lot to kill them, i've made some mistakes with mine in the past and ceised it up, blown a big bore kit e.t.c, but with the help of the Yamaha Owners Club i have managed to fix most problems quite quickly
  16. did you change the fuel mixture?, if you have added a free-flowing pipe and larger reeds you should adjust the carb for more fuel flow to counteract the increased airflow. lean bikes can be hard to start...
  17. had the Jawa up on blocks in the garden checking that all the gears were engaging, couldn't get it past second just riding it around the estate the forks are being swapped for a set of RD350 forks, so that will rpboably help when landing the wheelies
  18. what time/channel? was watching it sunday night when it got cancelled, what a bummer is it too late to catch the replays?
  19. its got oil in it i think... ooh sh*t, should really have checked that before running it
  20. hi everyone. found out yesterday that the jawa has an automatic clutch, meaning that when you move the gear lever to change gear, it will disengage the clutch, select the gear and wont engage the clutch again until you move the lever back to centre without even having to touch the clutch lever. is this a common thing on most bikes and how does it work? im quite amazed, lol!
  21. aslong as its bigger and faster than the DT i dont mind, lol. also it tends to pop and spit oil from the join in the exhaust system and i would prefer to have it sealed up so it sounds a bit nicer. starts first kick ever time
  22. try it with the size 100 jet as this will increase the fuel flow into the engine
  23. hi everyone been tinkering with my Jawa over the holidays and finally got it running nicely, but it seems that it is blowing from the joint where the exhaust headers meet the expansion chambers, is there a way i can seal this up as no doubt this will have some effect on how the bike runs (lack of backpressure). took it for a spin around the estate and its got a lot of go to say the least!
