she was the first i ever rode... and as such, she will forever hold a place in my heart... :'( didnt keep any of the details when i sent off the V5, it was signed over to a dealer (if i remember rightly he was a harley davidson dealer, bought the DT50 for his son to restore back to original spec)

forgot to say, passed theory, riding lesson was okay and the instructor reckons i can go for my mod 1 ... but due to my shitty work schedule the soonest i could do it was the 4th of June :'(... bollocks, should probably catch the end of the riding weather...

hey peeps ive booked my motorcycle theory test for monday, got a full day lesson on thursday and hopefully will be able to take my Mod 1&2 test before the summer rolls around... is the bike theory test any different to the car theory test? and how many lessons would i need to take before i have a good chance of passing my test(s)?, hope its not like my car one where i took 20 odd lessons, the day is costing me £100 .

have you modded the bike at all?, i spoke with someone who had one and he said it would void the warranty or something along those lines... got to admit, for a four stroke it would run rings around my little DT, theres a 350 in my shed if you fancy a go on a real bike, two smoke all the way! XD

turned out to be a tyrekicker... foamy is displeased > ah well, its back on ebay now... anyone on the forum fancy giving it a good home?

a carb rebuild would be best i think, after all the bike is no doubt around 20 years old and the seals e.t.c wont be at their best, its surprising how tempermental these little bikes can be especially in the extremes of the british weather. rebuild kits are available online and retail at around £10, its worth it IMHO

well peeps... the bloke is coming to collect it tomorrow at 10... :'( its going to be an emotional sendoff... may ask him to keep my number and address so that if he wants to sell it in the future i can have first refusal
  11. wouldnt hurt to try a new CDI, theres usually some going cheap on ebay

yes there is a jawa hiding in the shed but now ive managed to get the forks back (albeit still not rechromed) i will be moving that one up to cosford and sorting it out (hopefully). 28 views and 5 watchers in half an hour, not bad methink, already had someone offer me £200 for it but im letting the auction run. but if this sell goes well it may persuade me to get the Jawa back on ebay where it came from

i know OG, i will surely be kicking myself if/when it sells. i will revise the listing and see how things go... i saw a white DT50 field bike in a breakers yard and it brought a lump to my throat, but the seller wanted £150 for it which was just too much...

well peeps, lack of space and with the arrival of the XJ, the time has come to move the DT on to a better life... wish i had chosen a more dignified send-off than eBay though . chances are in a few years time i will be wanting to buy it back...
  16. wild foamy replied to Cynic's post in a topic in Yamabyss
i have to agree with cynic here, i've had a couple of mates who have bought brand new 50s/125s and one has wrote his off and isnt riding any more, the other has sold his on. they were all paying £800+ for insurance on their peds but i was only paying £200 for my DT (which i bought for a steal at £300). not only that... but i had the fastest ped of the lot, nothing beats over taking a brand new Aerox on a scabby little DT ... that was until one of my mates upgraded to an Aprillia RS50.

Hey and welcome (back) to the forum . nice set of wheels you got, bit of an incentive for me to take my full bike test and get on my XJ600, but the car is just toooo comfy . out of interest, will you be taking a full bike test aswell as full car or just ride the 125 until your CBT expires?

decided to revive this old thread... got the fork legs back but they haven't been touched, anyone know a place in/around telford or Birmingham that will be able to grind and re-chrome them at a reasonable cost?, im again on the lookout for some RD350 forks to swap out for the jawas ones, i know its not a straight swap but i will work it out put the forks back together anyway so i could get it out of the shed, will be taking it up to cosford as soon as i find a suitable trailer

but trying to is all part of the fun now seriously... any ideas as to whats causing the problem?, its got wires coming out of it which means its probably electrical... not my strongest point (tried wiring up a towbar and got the indicators crossed with the sidelights, so with the indicators on the sidelights would flash aswell, caused no end of piss-taking in the motor club >.<)

hiya peeps Was tinkering with the XJ most of this week and have a bit of a problem with the rev counter, it works to an extent but tends to stay at 2k when idling and revs to about 3-3.5k when i rev the engine, but i know for the fact that the engine revs are normal... from what i can see, its not a cable driven tacho... so im all out of ideas now :/ any help appreciated - Steve

today was eventful, managed to flood it this morning but after a bit of persuasion she started, and f*ck me what a bike!, found a quiet corner of camp and gave it a bit of stick and its sure got a lot more poke than my DT, very pleasing exhaust note with that motad 4-1 system. would like the idea of touring, its got potential and im sure some, gave it a good wash and wax this morning and all that needs doing is the grab-rail where the paint has flaked off and a couple of rust spots on the tank, but for a 20 year old bike its to be expected. also on the look out for a cheap stainless steel screw set to tart the new girl up a bit, maybe a set of engine bars if a set comes along, i will try and keep this one unmolested camera is u/s, so will have to borrow a mates camera some time and get some snaps. always did prefer the older women... and no blackhat, Goff will always have a special place in my heart
