  1. fuck the Newtownards idea, may aswell do the whole f*ckin lot, mid-end of july, week off work, venture around the whole country, why not?, i wanted to do it on the DT, i had aspirations of doing it on the Jawa, but screw it i got the XJ and im going for it, no matter what anyone says im getting out of this crooked country i am willing contracted to serve with my life, even if its just for a week. panniers, tankbag and tailpack, sleep rough next to the bike, nothing but a camera and a few tins of beans and some nickelback on the headphones. its been a bad dayweekmonth at work, not happy with my life as it is and im currently in the process of emptying my fridge of all my beer

    PASSED

Well done mate, (i know, im late, sorry...) get yourself an XJ600, i paid £400 for mine, it does 120mph, 100 miles on £10 of fuel, heated grips, Mmmmm... and the fact is if i drop it under a bus it doesnt really owe me anything (i would still be gutted though, i love that bike, not as much as my old DT though)
  3. Newtownards is the first town im heading to, would have thought it would be easier to get to from belfast, but if its going to take me an hour to get through belfast i may aswell go from Carinryan to Larne, cheers 2Wheels, you saved me about £90 in ferry fees from Liverpool - Belfast
  4. if its just when you start it i would put it down to an air leak, check the seals in and behind your carb
  5. well, what i meant was a weekend spent over there, leaving friday morning and returning monday night
  6. Sadly, as mentioned above you are very limited as to what engines you can put in it, unless you can find a DT80 engine, the 125 would probably be a bit too much, dont forget that you are riding with drum brakes and as i well know they are not the best. strip that engine down, its well worth it, haynes manuals and walkthroughs are available to help you, the parts are dirt cheap and readily availble on eBay/bitzforbikez e.t.c and you will learn a lot about how the engine works. failing that, name your price and i'll have it off your hands
  7. you need a frame with a bit more substance... say, a Jawa 640 frame... it jsut so happens i have one in the carpark if your interested? but yeh, wasnt of a nice bike... would be fun to ride until the rear end falls off anyway...
  8. hey peeps has anyone ever been from the UK to NI?, im wanting to go over there for a weekend next year but what is the cheapest way to get over to Belfast on a motorcycle? cheers peeps -Steve

    O So Quiet

    im still here... heeeey! *waves*
  10. ive got two sets of XJ600 (pre div) clocks, one is minus a speedo, the other has a fooked rev counter, fuel gauges are still good though. not a lot else to swap tbh, i dont earn enough to buy nice things...
  11. you say metals are a crystaline structure, unfortunately not always the case, some metals can be "grown" from a single crystal for extra strength, one example i can think of are the compressor/turbine blades for the TurboMeca engines on the AugustaWestland Merlin Mk3/3A ... *mupp mupp... puff...*
  12. agreed, still funny nonetheless lol
  13. selector forks or drum would be my guess, my trusty old DT would occasionally pop from second into neutral if i got lazy... im afraid it is a split case jobby
  14. Hang fire on the flowers just yet, my 33bhp restriction doesnt expire for another year and half... the XJ6 i ride now probably has 55-60bhp (it made 70 when it was new, many many moons ago) and what with the XJ12 putting out 100+ i would be likely to end up in the first tree i come to
  15. Heya peeps The winter has come, i am now driving a car, the XJ and Jawa sit in the car park of RAF benson collecting snow and various furry critters... and i have this strange sensation to get myself another toy, the Jawa now runs on both cylinders and with the exception of the broken headlight (which im trying to source a replacement for) will be on fleabay soon to make space for another toy... and on that topic, i have been browsing ebay the past few days... yes thats right, foamy has gained computer literacy... but anyway, i digress. i was looking through ebay, and i saw what can only be described as a wet dream, it made me weak at the knees and i started dribbling like a hungry baby in a topless bar. i'll give y'as all a clue... its a 1200, has two wheels, made by Yamaha and continues the trend of being older than myself. give up?... fine, its an FJ1200, and i think it is absolutely gorgeous, it looks a bit like my XJ, its a year older than me, and i personally think its a future classic. what are your thoughts? is it a wise investment such as the XJ?, or will it be a bottomless pit of effort and money like the Jawa? thoughts appreciated, as you can tell im slightly pished -Steve x P.S. Miss you goff xx

    YOC patch

would have another one off ya drewps, but what with my new car i have no money... no money for beer, no money for cigarettes, no money for women... how will i survive until the end of the month?
  17. likewise, went to start the XJ up after a week of it standing with a flat tyre, fired once then it decided to go "f*ck you, thats what you get for riding me like a cheap tart!"
  18. i fancy going to the beach in the summer, yolu up for it CBD? , slip on your speedos and i will show you how to pull these southern birds

  20. f*ck me sideways and call me your sister ... i tip my hat to you CBD, you have done what i have only thought about, whilst sat in my heated room drinking tea with a pair of slippers on... when the sun is shining let me know when your around the benson area and we will have to meet up, i owe you a drink
  21. may be worth contacting those publishers you mentioned and asking them to search their archives, worked for me when i was trying to find aircraft schematics from a magazine 8 years ago
  22. so damn gorgeous... you look so happy *sniffle* i need to soothe my pain with alcohol...
  23. magical bikes they are, f*ckin brillirant, say the magic words and they will fly in the clouds (not drug induced, honest!) ive been drinking you see, the room keeps spinning and i cant sleep!
  24. wow, you two revived this old thread?. oil leak has been fixed, turned out it was overfilled (whoopsie...) so after fixing that i now have a leaky front rim (stop sniggering at the back...)
