  1. Hey peeps, just wanted to show off... Future Mrs Foamy now has all her bike gear and has taken a liking to my old XJ, which means i am no longer riding through this world alone, will be going on our first couples holiday to Bournemouth on the bike on the June bank holiday, any know of any good biking roads to check out on the way? or places i can park on the seafront? Dont think the XJ will be going any time soon, too many good memories... Damn biker chicks are hot...
  2. mainly BMW/Audi/Merc drivers, the ones with the "i have a brand new really expensive car which means everyone else around me is inferior, you will bow down to me", other than that its mums on the school run, i found that most lorry drivers and to an extent bus drivers are amongst the most curtious
  3. As it happens yes i am a Liney, pond life, pan trash e.t.c
  4. i always thought it was whoever had the least "freckles" buys the round... the most daring game we play in the bar is Nails
  5. Hey peeps. Sorry to create yet another T-shirt thread, there's already a load of them but it seems that they have been buried/forgotten. T-shirts are now available... sort of, its Pauls design (tuning forks, YOC e.t.c) but i went through Vistaprint and ordered myself one, but since i have all the templates drawn up already i thought why not offer them out? Currently they are available in white, grey or black with blue text, if you would like a different colour text let me know as it wont be too hard to sort out but may be a tad more expensive if its a one-off Prices so far: (shipped to your door, including paypal charges) White shirt, no name or slogan on back - £10.55 Grey shirt, no name or slogan - £12.95 Black shirt, no name or slogan - £15.35 if it's a bulk order then the prices will drop, i can also change slogans or add text to the front for special events, such as the squires meet e.t.c, If you are overseas the shipping is slightly higher but only by about £3 for name and slogan add £2.39 to your order, and if you want a 2xl its an extra £1.20. and yes im aware the web address is incorrect, the screenshots were taken before i finalised the design, i uploaded them whilst under the influence of 5 pints of guiness, give me a break eh?
  6. message recieved and reply sent, thanks elmmet x
  7. either myself or paul i think, sent paul a PM yesterday but not sure if he is still doing any shirts failing that if you want one like in my 2 last posts PM me with your specific requirements e.t.c and i can let you know how much it is
  8. Bump... now available in black, with original blue or cyan text, i think the cyan stands out better on a completely different note, i am never drinking again...
  9. Welcome to the forum, Qtour! , make yourself at home, i joined this forum when i was 15 before i even bought my moped the lake district and scotland are both good choices for touring and the XJ600 is a more than capable bike

    Mini Moto Carb

well, they came off 2-stroke 70cc generators, and i've used a couple of garden strimmers, they are more than likely going to fit a mini moto, bring it over and try it if you like
  11. £8.39 without postage if you have a name and slogan on the back am going to order my own one and post up a pic of how it looks when it arrives EDIT: just ordered mine, the first one in existance, was £12.09 including shipping (which apparently may take up to 21 days... *grumble*) with the slogan and name printed on the back, if anyone does want one and isnt too bothered about seeing me pose in my one then feel free to PM me and i can fill you in on any specifics.
  12. Payment would probably be through paypal, maybe cash on collection, i dunno jsut a thought peeps, i've had a bit to drink, and i got playing around on vistaprint... and, well... this is the result... the short sleeved shirt WITH A PLAIN BACK is £3.25 each if we order 25, if you want the name and slogan across the back i think it's about £8 or there abouts... you can have white, Black (+£1.20), Grey (+£0.89), if you want a 2XL size its +£1.19 yadda yadda, my beer glass is empty...
  13. wow, that's impressive... did you do a plug chop to check the mixture?, that'd be my first port of call... as for the fuel, petrol (or "Gasoline" for you guys) has a typical shelf life of 6-8 weeks, filling a jerry can a year ago and then using it in your bike probably wasnt the best thing to do, you've already discounted the spark plug range so you are left with a leaking magneto seal (possible but unlikely), too lean carb mixture is more probable, ignition timing is also worth checking seeing as your bike is a 74 and probably running on points (check your manual for correct settings), faulty CDI is unlikey, compression ratio shouldnt be too much of an issue assuming that the head gasket was changed when the barrel was last off. having said that looks like you've done your homework on symptoms, definately check the mixture and ignition timing though, and as for splitting the cases it would be advisable seeing as all thoser little metallic fragments could now be dry-humping your bearings and bushes
  14. so thats about 5 of us so far... poor show peeps, the original list was as follows (from reading through the old thread) Drewpy - 1 Medium Blackhat - 2 Large Foamy - 2 Medium Realrayzor -1 Large Cynic - Large black Grey haired git - 1 XLarge NEV - 3 XL Airhead - 1 Large Fosdyle - 2 (1 large 1 medium) Battered - 1 XL AndyDtr08 - 1 Medium Pilninggas - 1 Large casperj - 1 L cheerfulgrin - 1 Medium bindie - 1 XLarge elmmet - 1 medium Dean_DT - 1 Large MRR - 1 Medium Matthew duncan - 1 Large Yamahead - 1 XL 25 not including the less active members who may/may not still be around on the forum... where have these numbers gone? im happy to provide the means to get the wheels turning but there needs to be more interest than the 5 who posted here
  15. im not 100% familiar with this model of bike... but shouldnt that drain tube (copper pipe sticking up from the bottom of the float bowl) be straight? it was on my DT50, it is on my XJ600 and the 650 Turbo, this could explain the leaking fuel as the tube is draining fuel from a level below your float cut-off point
  16. yeah i seem to remember a post about that, boom trikes i think it was...
  17. my old lady has just moved to porlock and opened a B&B... haven't seen her for 2 years! there was another video of a goldwing or similar towing a volvo on a twin axle car trailer doing the rounds here a couple of years ago aswell
  18. Thanks for the message Sacha, wish we had your weather over here, its been pissing with rain and sometimes hail its either this or i take her to the prom in my Mini... but i dont really like either of my cars that much tbh and i dont fancy doing 150 miles in the mini!, whichever way i will be sure to get some pics, theres a pic of her sat on my XJ on my camera somewhere i will see if i can find it...
  19. its a possibility, would that be any less awkward for a lady in a dress to mount?...
  20. Hi everyone, i have a bit of a strange request for you today... does anyone have a sidecar outfit i could borrow for a day or two? i am just out of my 2 year 33bhp restriction period so it doesnt matter exactly what it is... reason being future Mrs Foamy wants to go to her prom on the back of one of my bikes but that just isn't practical when wearing a dress (so she tells me, i dont tend to wear dresses...), so if anyone has a jawa/ural/mz/whatever else with a sidecar that they would lend me the use of for a couple of days i would be forever gratefull, payment would be provided ofc. please let me know peeps, i will be your tame foamy Love foameh x

  23. Could be a laxy starter with worn brushes, what mileage has it got?... my first check would be the earth from the starter motor or the starter relay as a bad earth could easily cause high resistance and lead to a reduction in circuit performance The cutting out sounds a lot like wiring loom, check where the wires go through the headstock as often these turn into plastic plugs which can become loose over time and unplug themselves when you turn to full lock as the wires tend to pull apart, my old DT was the worst for doing that
