  1. Dunno how much you know about engines, but this is a Noob's guide. You'll probably have to unscrew and remove the plastic cowling. Follow the HT lead down into the engine. The spark plug (I assume this is a single cylinder) will likely be somewhere around the top of the engine. You want an NGK BR8ES spark plug. This pic is a DT400, but likely a similar layout. See the cylinder, the bit with the fins? At the top is a thick black lead with a silvery right-angled end-cap. That is the HT Plug and the sort of thing you're looking for on the 125. Might be something other than silver-coloured. Carefully pull that off and the spark plug is underneath. I assume you know how to remove the spark plug?
  2. No idea myself, but I always ran Avon Venoms on the 650 Drag. I could expect 19,000 miles as an absolute minimum, assuming I ride like a cock and demanded far more than was reasonable of the poor thing. Got Avons on the FJ now, too!! I'd personally suggest the Cobra set, if you can find them, as I like the all-weather grip and high mileage that Avon always seem to deliver.
  3. I know you don't, that's why I was offering you a lift, heh heh!! Call me Bitch again and I'll rescind the offer, though...
  4. Might be useful if pinned. This is not every seal, but a fair few of the common ones for Yammies. 5. Again, get the professional musician ones with adjustable attenuation. Loud sounds are completely cut out, while quieter sounds like burbling engines are crystal clear!!! What price your hearing?
  6. Get ye along to one of the larger bike shows/rallies. You'll usually find decent large bags there for surprisingly low prices. Plus you can test-fit them before you buy!
  7. Come for a ride on the back of my FJ if ya like... Long as you don't scream like a girl, I'll happily take ya.
  8. Which tallies with general reports of the coils having bad insulation and being susceptible to failure around the times when it rains. Liquid tape is the common solution, as mentioned in your other thread. DC1-1 Dyna Coils. $160 from JCWhitney. What are you saying - We're all retards because a problem commonly reported by other owners of your specific bike model is vaguely related to other completely different bikes, simply because they all have 4 cylinders??!! All Dragstars have 2 cylinders, yet the frequent issues with each individual model are not common between different models and engine sizes. Then you have different manufacturers of Cruiser, with their own set of common issues. Then all the other twin cylinder bikes, V-twin and otherwise. Infinite diversity in infinite combinations, mate. This is what Google is for.
  9. Honda DN-01 Sports Cruiser.... whatever the F that means. Something like 700cc, automatic only transmission, looks almost as spaceship-cool as the Suzuki G-Strider. Was a Japan-only model until enough UK folks bitched and they then started importing them to here. Looks great fun, but is VERY low. Most Westerners have trouble seeing the clocks as the screen gets in the way. If you want spacey Cruiser looks, I'd personally suggest the big 1500 Intruder.
  10. Generally happens when no-one knows about your particular bike. No 4 cylinder problems is apparently indicative of poor insulation on the ignition coils, as mentioned in your other thread about those. If you've been getting a fair bit of rain/wet/condensation/whatever lately, that could be one cause.
  11. No idea. Most places just talk of an H4 Bi-Xenon HID bulb/kit. A couple express preference for the H4-2 Hi-Low kind. Not sure if it makes a difference, but several RD350 owners have intsalled them in their other bikes, noting that the need some kind of converter kit to cope with a relay??!! These offer any insight? http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=3907.0
  12. DC1-1 Dyna Coils are what most people use for the '82 XJ650J models, apparently. If you experience issues in the rain (usually failing to spark on No 4), you may want to try coating them in liquid tape or something, to give them some proper insulation. They look to be about $160 at JCWhitney, though... Are they usually that expensive? However, be advised that I actually know sod-all about your particular bike and simply Googled the answer
  13. WTF do you take into work that needs both saddlebags and a ruckie??!!

    Boots

Those Hoggs look pretty nice, but fuckin' hell they cost!! I personally just use combat boots (Boots Combat High, where possible) myself. £20-30 odd from a surplus shop, decent support, steels if you want, full leather and supple enough that you can feel the controls.
  15. So... what happens when a fight kicks off and you're on the town, in jeans and winter coat? Or yer lid and leathers? Ah, so just getting toward the Renaissance, then. Coolies. Cor, at the merest mention of her name I start getting warm fuzzy feelings!! I actually picked it up because Peter Strauss was in it (I collect his work, among several others), but once I saw her I became a fan of hers too!! Check out Finding Bliss - Bit of a chick flick, but Leelee is seriously horny in that!! Anyway, derailing thread, here. Will take fighty talk to PM
  16. It's mostly related to the severity of the insult. In the context of road users, for example, it's all about those who screw other people over - bullying, cutting up, no indicators, forced dominance, etc... Shit - Someone who knows the rules and uses them (occasionally bending them) along with road psychology to gain more advantage than one might reasonably expect. Fast filterers and decent 4x4 drivers are good at this, simply from knowing how their size affects other drivers. Prangs mostly minor and likely to be 'technically' your fault. 10% chance. Nob - Idiot who is useless at driving, but still tries it on. Usually fucks it up and blocks traffic. Sunday drivers, most often. 25% chance of minor prang. Arsehole - Useless idiot who succeeds where a Nob fails. Blocks traffic on purpose, speeds down a closing motorway lane and then forces their way in right at the end where the cones close the road, etc. Undertaking summer biker is typical. 50% chance of a minor prang, 25% chance of a major one. Wanker - Jammy git who actively tries to screw you over, thinks they're better than they are yet still manages to succeed half the time. Their fuckups are highly embarrassing at best. 50% chance of a major prang, minors unlikely. Tosser - Exactly as per wanker, but is as good as they think. Their fuckups kill people. Bad 4x4 drivers dominate this category. 25% chance of major, but prangs caused are far more serious. Prick - Stereotypical BMW driver. Someone who REALLY bullies/screws you over on purpose to get their own way. Parks where they like, has inferiority issues, etc. Usually escapes scot-free themselves, leaving you somewhere in the shit. 50% chance of that shit being serious. Complete C**t - Runs you off the road, bashes you out of parking spaces, drives with fog lights on all the time, hit-and-run, blatantly uninsured, probably driving stolen vehicle as well. 75% chance of seriously major prang and/or death. 30% chance they will die as well.
  17. Personally, I don't believe the 1100 bits will fit directly as I think they're beefier to cope with the extra torque. You may have to jig them around to make them work. That part you need - It may be one that a friend of mine has available. He's breaking a '99 650 Drag in the near future, so I'll ask and keep you posted.
  18. Alright bru! Good choice of bike - Lots of Draggie fans here, including me. Any questions you have, you're more than welcome!!
  19. Don't wear them, never have, wear a Caberg anyway so noisy as fuck. If you're going to invest, get some plugs specifically made with adjustable noise attenuation. I used to use these ones for drumming that cost £60 but were moulded to precisely match my own ears. I wore them in a busy nightclub once - Music was nice and loud still, but I could hear people talking from across the room as if there was no music at all!!
  20. Dress up? What for? Does wearing other clothing make you a better fighter? Is that why many of them wear pyjamas? Heh heh! If you mean dress up as in Medieval re-enactment, no I don't do that. It's purely the combat side we do... and it fecking hurts when you mess it up as it's full contact! I have a permanently knackered knee from a tap with a staff. Funnily enough, the guy I frequently punched in the face during my early days was best man at the wedding! However, I *am* into the WW2 living history, coz the Mrs gets her pretty dresses, haircuts and dances, while us boys get fuck-off big machine guns and tanks and mortars and stuff Also, I think Joan of Arc was 1200s or something, pre-Renaissance... wasn't she? Oh man, I forgot how to Google, so I'll have to re-watch that Joan of Arc version with the utterly gorgeous Leelee Sobieski in all over again... damn you Noisy Boy!! Oh yeah, back on topic - Satisfying when the current commanding General of the US Army Division that you re-enact writes in person to thank you and your unit for your "exemplary conduct" at a remembrance service!
  21. A hook is a sort of 'spinning-back-kick' thing, striking with the heel, then? Or is it like the Tae Kwon Do thing where you bend the body back and pick a bottle up off the floor from behind you while you do it? Nope. English Martial Arts, or "the noble and worthy science of defence" as George Silver called it in 1598. Hitting stuff with swords and sticks in a very Medieval/Renaissance fashion, with some old old old school barefist boxing (think James Figg).
  22. It is... but I'm still getting Belinda out.
  23. Never really liked travelling abroad. Almost everyone else has guns and/or drives on the wrong side of the road! Visited the US, Holland, Spain for one day, Portugal, Teneriffe, Ibiza and spent about 5 hours burning my skin off under the Istanbul sun. Not even done France yet. Other than that, 'Abroad' for me is anywhere I have to catch a ferry to (Ireland, Isle-of-Wight, etc). Wales is just up the road (more so with the Fudge) and Scotland is only a few hours away so long as I'm piloting the vehicle.
  24. Err... a few, yeah... why? Have I missed something? Belinda Carlisle sang 'Summer Rain'. That said, any excuse to get Belinda Carlisle out is a good one in my book!
  25. Summer rain? Cue for Belinda Carlise...!!
