  1. Yeah, but similarly ManC and ManU are both Manchester, but woe betide anyone mixing them up!!
  2. Value of the bike is not so much the issue as value of replacing like-for-like, which is what I'm going after. Currently, these things cost around £2200, on the market. If I accept what they offer, it's not even half that amount, so I'd be left out of pocket *and* without a bike. I need a bike for work. This bike was chosen specifically for teh features it brought for that work use. They must replace what I had with as close a replacement as possible. 3CV in good nick? I'd expect £2100, or more.
  3. Everyone at work knows every bike and who the corresponding riders are, even if they drive cages themselves. There's only 13 of us who ride at all, one of us who only takes it to work thrice a year, one who will probaby kill himself either with bike or in his car, one who is a girl and has STILL not remembered to convert her CBR600 back to Road Mode from her trackday, two of us who ride all year round..... and only one crazy fucker who dares to ride in the snow!!
  4. Hi guys and gals, As you may know, I got bashed off my bike a couple of weeks ago. The wreckage has been inspected and given a Cat-C write-off (too costly to repair), with the recompense valuation being insanely low - I couldn't even buy half of an FJ with what the Glass guide supposedly says. My own insurance obviously will be pushing for a payment that would get me a replacement vehicle, but needs evidence of actual market costs. I'm having trouble finding many for sale myself, so does anyone know of any similar bikes going? Needs to be an FJ1200 3XW model 1992 onwards, ideally with mileage around the 45K mark. Many thanks, Tasky.
  5. Oh? Not Kenneth Williams playing Julius Ceaser in Carry On Cleo, then...?
  6. Ask the council/permit provider. If they say you have to have a permit, demand they provide (or at least specify) a theft-proof method. Comply and document the implementation of such and then tell them to get stuffed when it inevitably gets stolen resulting in a parking ticket.
  7. Sounds interesting, perhaps a little high-priced, but most private sales are. Only way to really tell is to go along and look it over, have a fiddle and listen to the engine. My 3XW was £500 at auction, bit of basic work, full service/overhaul and ended up being £900's worth of awesomeness!!
  8. I'm guessing it's a 3CV, the middle model. Reckoned by many to be the best of the lot!
  9. Or just take her for a ride on it and let her be amazed!!
  10. WOO-HOOOOOOO!!!! Make sure to join that Owners Club as well, as they do all manner of nice prices on parts, manuals and even some funky exclusives! Yep, FJs frequently go right round the clock twice or even thrice! Not had any issues with the grab rails myself... at least nothing worse than most bikes, anyway. It might depend on the model, though - Later ones had two handles on the sides instead of the single rear rail. I prefer pillions hold on to me anyway, unless there's a top box...
  11. But he sure plays a mean Pinball!!
  12. There's a fourth one? Meh... I just use my nicely powerful PC for games.
  13. Well, I am apparently this guy: I even have an action figure and rumours are that Jason Statham will be playing me in the forthcoming movie...
  14. "Ah theenk Mahhk's Eau-Deea'd!!" I love Aussie accents!!
  15. Yep, forgot to point that out! Well, I used to and it never caused any issues. It's basically a spray-on barrier to keep the road crap away from your nice bike. It will get filthy as you ride, but the crap is sticking to the protective layer and not your bike, so don't go washing it until the roads and weather clear up a bit.
  16. If they're that bad, I expect they'll need replacing. However, check (and probably replace) the seals first, in case they are more buggered. If the pitting is relatively minor, it may be possible to buff them out to an acceptable degree. You selling on or is this being done up for someone in particular?
  17. Give it a thorough cleaning. Then give it a liberal coating of ACF-50. Should be fine. Fail to look after it and it will go all rusty-yuck - I speak from experience.
  18. I have an XJ??!! Nah, it's an FJ (see profile on yer left) and they should be sending an assessor out soon.
  19. Hint: Start in the Intro section
  20. What are you asking *me* for? It's a Suzuki... who knows!!
  21. Bandit has an auto-choke. Bloody weird, man....
  22. There is also this one: Thing is, if it wasn't all so blatantly staged, you'd be seeing him glass his oppo with the remnants of those tubes! This is both stupid beyond belief and kinda reminiscent of that Japanese gameshow Chris Tarrant used to show. 'Endurance', was it? Dual Core - HA HA!!!!!
