    NEWBIE :-)

My ex did her CBT, rode for 2 years, then passed test second time with no lessons. Course, she rode like a c**t, regularly left me up shit creek with nowhere to go and almost took me out on more than one occasion. In the end we broke up because I'd crashed twice on her account. I'm expecting to hear of her 'tragic' Death By Stupidity one of these days and to be honest, I'll just view it as natural selection. Some people belong on bikes... others really don't.
  2. Pull away from the lights on an A-Road, hit 60 and then smile as you back 'em down for the corner. Job done!!
  3. Yeah, but it's a 950, 1300 or a 1900, according to the Brochure. The specs were saying it's a 1700, which was the bit that didn't make sense.... Confoozed!!
  4. I'd offer to remove it for you, but I don't know where in the UK you are... Hint hint, people - Fill out your profiles!
  5. Properly tuned XVS 125 tops out at 74-ish mph, so long as you ride it properly. Check my other posts for instructions.
  6. Move your foot sideways a little... To the right. You should not have your foot actually resting on the brake pedal (unless you have BIG feet, like me), so you can afford to move it out a bit. The engine is air-cooled, so as you munch the miles heat should not be a problem. If you still have issues, consider installing a plate or something on the footpeg bracket that keeps your foot shielded.
  7. I think those specs are back to front. The Midnight is a 1900cc bike (113 cubic inch) or thereabouts.
  8. That's what they say and that's what they mean, yes. The idea is that all new riders will at some point drop their bike. Whether it's an off, or a Stopped & Dropped incident, it's supposedly an inevitability. Personally, I have not actually dropped a bike. Came close a couple of times and it was a heavy bike, but never actually dropped. Get what you like. Just be careful.

    NEWBIE :-)

Meh - Just another biker. Gender is usually the last thing on my mind when a rider goes past.
  10. But they may be able to find plugs that fit the cylinderways. From there they can re-pin the locks to match the key.
  11. Hang on.... doesn't the new Fireblade come in 1000cc?
  12. PVC???!!! Feck, no... I do have some taste, ya know!!! I could get some shots done with some women, which'd be just for you... but this is all about me, here. I was thinking of an evocative landscape in the middle of nowhere. I'm 2nd Gen Goth, so any women included would be the Leather & Lace brigade, with a distinct Sisters Of Mercy thing goin' on...
  13. £90 and they ain't waterproof???!!! Feck... my waterproof leather gloves were about £35, brand new!!
  14. Dave says: "The Rz and MBX were both a bit later than when I was interested in these things. Before the MBX, Honda did the MB50 and MT50. The MB was a road bike, the MT was offroad, but could be fitted with the necessary bits to make it roadworthy. Those tended to be the two most popular 50s in the early 80s (up to about 83, I think). If I recall correctly, the MB was the "Meteor", and the MT was the "Tornado". Which just goes to show the gulf between reality and marketing. (Two very clear and severe cases of "wantage")... I got my DT400 in '83. About the same time, the DT series was being replaced by the XT series. Never liked those - the tanks were big and ugly. Much preferred the lines of the DT."
  15. Friend of mine had a DT400 in the 'bad old days'. I'll ask him about it...
  16. Vibration? Jeezy, I took a 700 Deauville out for a play and even that has vibration. It's part and parcel of having an internal combustion engine!!
  17. What, having a bike that looks like Dougal off teh Magic Roundabout??!! My lightweight (read scrawny) body has a high centre of mass, so I have to really put my meagre weight in to make a decent corner. The girl who ended up with the bike is 'broad about the beam', so her weight worked a lot better with it... plus she's put on a few, so I bet she's glad of that fat-ass saddle!! That is my sexeh look!! Actually, I was blinded by the sun, so I do need to do a re-shoot... preferably with some more exotic scenery!! Yeah, but it's hard love, baby.... "A hard lovin' woman like you just needs a hard lovin' man"!!
  18. Nah, I'd break New Rocks. The girlfriend has a pair, though...
  19. Yeah - It looks like a spaceship - That's what I love about it!! I grew up and am still in love with all the 80s Sci-Fi TV shows!!
  20. For $40 a pro Lockie will cut you 3 keys. And yes, they will have nice keys that say Yamaha on them!! Professionals get their business through word of mouth, so their work has to be good enough and their prices reasonable enough to attract repeat business and recommendations.
  21. Apparently, to properly ride a 'Busa at Top Speed you'd need 4 miles of clear motorway ahead of you - ie that you can see to be clear. When the f**k would you get that? That sounds more like fast acceleration, which is anuvver kettle o' fish. 0-20, 30, 40 and 50, Rocket III actually beats every other production bike, 'Busa included. Cor, Gas-up... I might just pay Johnnie P a visit after that image!!! Go screw him after the many times he screwed us!!!!
  22. Whaaaaaat? Those sweeping curves look like some Skye Terrier's arse!!! Because I rode a Classic. Big, clompy, lumpy things with a massive arse-pad for a saddle. You can lean, but you have to hoof it about like a half-drunk horny Queen fan. If I want extra weight on a corner, I just lean forward. Custom responds better to weight transfer - Classic has an extra 3 stone to fight against... I'd need to put an extra 35% on my bodyweight to achieve this!! Nah 's got the same streamlined junk and modern styling. Might as well get a Pan!!
  23. Well, he did say other forms, excluding bikes..... I either ride or I walk..... except when the Mrs insists on driving. ShoKz - You bought a bike from Shitty Motorcycles too, huh? So did the Wife!!
  24. Ye don't look very aggressive when you're lagging at the back, struggling to lug that extra 20kgs of metal bodywork along!! And those streamlined mudguards don't actually do anything for reducing wind resistance. With my slimline tyres I can actually get some decent lean and forward weight going in the corners!! As for the forks - Yours are just mine with an ugly mask on!!
  25. Yeah yeah yeah..... Real men... I mean, REAL men - Don't ride. They fly heavily armed combat helicopters Ride as fast as ye like - Ye cannae outrun a rack of Sidewinder missiles!!!
