  1. People are unlikely to volunteer how to wire ignition in open forum. The system is basic and we don't want to make it easy for the villans..
  2. Depends on your bike. If you ride a commuter. An fj or the like it will make little difference apart from removing the ethanol risk. But if you ride something sensitive to mixture like my TDR250 the the difference is very obvious. My bike runs cooler an smother on the posh stuff.

    Death of a rider !

Much easier to blame the rider. It was his fault! As the rider he should have been prepared for that car. From his reaction he no more regarded the car, than the car did him. I slow down at junctions etc and would not even consider those speeds. Having driven trucks for years i have seen enough wreckage of varying vehicles to have lost my need for speed. I fully understand why plods are so angry at drivers. I downsized from a 600 to a 250 to have all my fun at lower speeds. I sympathise with his family etc but he rolled the highest stakes dice and lost in the worst way.
  4. I didn't like em in the wet. Span up too easy. At those sizes Bridgestone, or michelin pilot road (adored these on my 600)are fine.
  5. You will never win that race. The 93 dt was a 25hp bike restricted to 13. Most schoolyard tuners could get them to 80 per cent of that removing restrictions. Your 2007 bike ISNT restricted. The ports etc will give around 13hp. Its possible to eek some more go sacrificing efficiency but without major work you have lost before you start the engine.
  6. On interweb assuming they have anything is risky
  7. It would work with the bleed bolt but its still bodged brakes. I spend money on brakes over power any day. Will make the mot man and any plod look at the bike closer. Dont forget the butcherd nipple could fail loosing you your rear brake and possibly getting hydraulic fluid on your tyre. Unlikely but hey so is winning the lottery. I know which i prefer running the odds on.
  8. Tried a bit of choke when the power fades?
  9. Tch how can that be better than squires.... Lol congratulations. Looks like we kept the rain off you too.
  10. There you go.. http://www.xs500.com/html/technik.html
  11. Oh bad luck. Good job you still have it. Thank goodness for crap villans.
  12. No not impossible just more difficult. You have to reasearch it more efficiently. Manuals set out prefixes and engine numbers as well as some parts manuals. Its not as complete as a modern vin but it can be done. Put your chassis number up except the last 3 numbers and see what we can find.
  13. Burnt the pipe out? You do realise you need 900 odd degrees to loosen carbon. For the rear pipe (the thin bit) a 3ft length of garden hose gets rid of 80% of the blockages. Caustic oven cleaner in solution is the er? solution. Seal the engine end with a steel plug. NOT aluminium. Then fill the pipe with caustic (BE VERY CAREFUL, BURNS) then leave for a few days then drain. Follow the cleaners instruction for disposal, its basically the same junk as the oven anyway. Then you will have a much cleaner pipe.
  14. Thought so.. Really I mean it if you have a TZR 125 doing a gps confirmed 98mph be happy. There aint many that do it, that must be indicating 105, 110 probably more. If it rides well (considering the pv) for god sake put that needle clip back where it was and enjoy it. Unless you really know how to fine tune it further which will take more and more low/mid range away as you do it. Just keep it maintained, I have come out first due to brakes and handling far more often than power.
  15. Really, 98 actual with bad mixture and no pv. If it will do that gps speed and the pv is unmodified buy a new gps. If it really is doing 98mph (and without the pv motor it will be like riding a gp bike) then stop making it worse because someone has already done it all already and dropping the needle 2 clicks will kill it sure as dropping it from a car park. Improving on 98 mph will need proper tuning skill not forum rumours. When I was messing about on these things in 89/90 (which were the fastest) an indicated ton was the aim anything more was a bonus. That needed carb, ig and exhaust mods. The bikes with the full European spec (ie ordered by a full licence holder, it happened) would struggle to reach 98mph except in perfect conditions.
  16. The Bippo Breakfast will live in infamy, and Pauls nightmares.
  17. Thanks everybody, good time as always. Make it a chineese next year though eh. Saw loads of bikes riding across to skeggy, nearly ran out of fuel too that was scary. Stopped for me chips on the seafront then plugged home. Over 500miles all told on an unreliable 2 stroke.. Going to be sore for a day or two though cos that seat aint kind. We really must do one earlier in the year too, Aprilish.
  18. Ha i went to skegness. Just had coffee on the seafront. Nice and sunny too.
  19. There isnt a centre gasket on the older stuff. I dont see a reason for them to introduce it. My dt175 only has the red sealant. No gasket.
  20. No dual compound affects wear characteristics. Asymetric improves physical grip they are normally directional too. Look at makes like Hankook or Falkern. The pattern is really simple on the inside shoulder of the tyre getting more complicated towards the outer edge giving good lateral grip in wet conditions.
  21. No ya daft bugger. Asymmetric tyres have a tread pattern that isn't constant across the tyre. They are used on performance cars. Your on about dual compound or dual density tyres. The avons are different again using the carcase belt weave to give more traction from harder compounds by allowing the tyre to move. None are perfect. Battlaxes for example generally develop a sharp step between the compounds as they wear if you like corners. Avons disintegrate used at the limit. Had a letter from them offering 50 per cent off and suggesting a gentler cornering style from Avon after i killed one of theirs at the tt. Michelin were my favourite. The pilot road is really good.
  22. Replaced the relay with what. A dedicated led relay?
  23. Braking for a 2g turn on a 150bhp race bike maybe. On a dt175. Yep.
  24. 27.5 degrees rake 117mm trail. By the POWER of goooooogle....
