  1. That's the thing, his is blacked up. All the bling is gone, fruity pipe and some braided hoses. Job done. Its got a no bulshit, DILLIGAF air to it. Certainly not 'pretty'. You wouldn't care if your jacket zip scratched the 'tank'. But it seems all the better for it.

    Mt 03 problems

Have you not got a manual. The XTZ tenere that shares the engine uses a semi dry sump with 2 drains. If you only drained the engine, then dumped 3 or 4 litres in there it will end up way overfull. My TDR has multiple drains for the gearbox, the second of which you would likely never notice without reading the manual first.
  3. Well, they are not simple to work on as with all V engines everything is in the way of its self. Got the thing running MUCH better. I found that pot 4 was flooding out massively. Turns out there was a plastic washer from god knows what jamming the float. Then got the carbs balanced after sorting the throttle cable, being a Bowden/MX style push, pull set up it has to be just so to work the engine smoothly as it pulls the carbs shut. Then balancing the carbs, whew were they out. By a fkin country mile. Had to go round 6 or 7 times, get closer while keeping it running, check and adjust again getting nearer each time round. Finally got it sorted, long way from silky smooth as the carbs really want a full rebuild but he is chuffed. Well i gets a go for my troubles and I can understand the attraction, a GSXR will waste it. So what! When that vboost comes in its like a 2 stroke, but bigger everywhere. Proper arm pulling stuff. LOL no grace, no style. Handling is pure 80's cruiser, hideously uncomfortable without highway pegs, engine is full fat angry, it pops and gurgles a bit in the vboost transition and big throttle movements. Like a 2 stroke tbh and, confession time. I absolutely fucking loved it. As a motorcycle its shit, as a thing to make work tomorrow seem just a little further away, awesome. Yes I could buy one, doubt I will but it is one of those times where the poster pin up actually isn't a fantasy and disappoints, it did what I expected and more.

    What one of these? http://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/new-bikes/2007/august/aug0807husqvarnastrmotorcyclegallery-/
  5. Dunno, sure you haven't tagged the source icon at the top right of the reply box? Duh left
  6. Hey, I didn't know where the Vmax fits into the scheme of things, custom, cruiser. Ok I know were not talking sportsbike. Thing is a mate of mine round the corner is constantly buggering about with an old Vmax. To be honest the poor thing makes me cringe when it goes past on one of its many 'test runs'. Throw a 4 sided dice to guess how many cylinders its using. Anybody know how to set the bloody things up, all that v boost stuff. He tries but he doesent like to admit he is wrong so I have to be a bit tactful and he really needs some help or he is going to get rid. Probably with a couple a gallon of 4 star.
  7. All valid points but I don't have to collect the wife's turds in a bag.
  8. Nah, I bought some 2t from there a while back for a tenner (no choice at the time). Another marketing con. Was prob 20% dearer in a Halfords branch on the isle of Skye so its a legal offer.
  9. Nope, posting an intro question in the workshop and then saying you will go and introduce yourself is fine. Just pasting your original post in my opinion is a bit naff. TBH, if Dirty had seen it even money says it would have been locked.
  10. He did post in the workshop section, committed the grievous forum sin (in my opinion) of copy and paste. nil points.
  11. You should take the Glava into the boozer with you.

Have a few drinks and play something like Deep Purple loud, then FEEL the paint scheme man.
  13. I have moved you to the workshop. Say high in the new members area, otherwise you come across as one of the many one post wonders which we get an awful lot of, one question then never seen again.
  14. Yes I am cynical and yes in the main I think its bullshit, but! Through said farcebook by pure chance found out that a good friend of mine was having his 40th last weekend and that has led to me meeting back up with some long neglected mates. Don't expect me to use it much if at all but as a means to communicate meaningful things to genuine friends yes it has its uses. It also means I can keep my daughter happy, the eldest is fine but my youngest goes for entirely the wrong kind of friends. Providing you don't just get friends for all the bullshit games there are,ie make 5 friends and get more gold/crystals/whatever that's just farming for names, pah. That is bad. And no, I will not be expanding into whatsit and twatter, this one will do.
  15. Not as bad as it sounds just my daughter moaning that I'm so 'unconnected' and i must 'get up to date' so if facebook type rubbish comes through to you I'm trying to see the point,(and work it properly). Sorry.
  16. Sure its not a different crank, cranks are not made oversize and cut down, it will have been cast the same as thousands of others and then machined to micro tolerances. Being a bit long just wont happen. Is the spacer the correct length? I don't think I would be happy fitting it myself, there is no real shortage out there. Get another.
  17. Shortened to fit what exactly? You gain nothing, sure its not been mangled by somebody trying to get the primary pinion nut off?
  18. That area is where blackhat250 is coming from I think. I'm sure he is north of Glasgow by about 80mile?
  19. I would measure your cyl carefully. It should be done at 3 or 4 points down the bore. If you have piston slap the bore will be worn. Most likely not properly round any more. Maybe by only 0.3mm but that is enough.
  20. Wecome. Would be good if you say hi in the new members area. You will be regarded as a one of many just begging the answer to an issue then vanishing. Happens far too often and puts people of responding. That aside we have a couple of xs nutters who love em. They should be able to help. Ps. Put you in the workshop.
  21. Welcome in Neil. I have moved you over to the new members bit. Enjoy your bike.
  22. Fine by me. Looks to be a cracking whistle stop tour of the peak district. Looking foreward to it.
  23. Its the first weekend in September, Friday the 4th. You coming? More the merrier. Andy is on his SR125 so were not breaking records although that bike can get nigh on 70 with a bit of a run. Wont do it for long. Cruising speeds of around 60 obviously dropping for local limits, (and hills). For convenient meet points there will be the obvious one at Thrapston, prob 9.30 for 10. Something like that aiming to reach the chippy in Matlock for around 12. Pay homage and then go see..
  24. Go for it. I was in a similar position years ago. Spent the wedding deposit on a 1500 mile suzuki 600. I was not popular but got enough overtime to cover it. 36 12h shifts back to back. Nearly killed me lol. But i got the bike and kept the girl.
  25. Fine by me. Finnerez89 is coming too. Need to work on the meeting points . This is going to be great. Prob see john on the way.
