  1. Heard that all too often. Squirt some contact cleaner in all the switches and check your fuses. Doubt its the relay. Could be but in my exp when a relay fails it just stays in one state, ie main or dip beam. Checked the headlight earth?
  2. Ok, imagine the scene, at the security office of a delivery I make a couple of times a week. Meet a new security guard. Make pleasantries, usual tripe about your day, boss is a w'nker etc. Then he comes out with the "Got all your PPE", Nope, need a hat says I. at the same time as the hat, he hands me some safety glasses. Don't need them, can't wear em because of my glasses and you don't have the overglasses ones. I know because as said I have been delivering there for months a couple of times a week. He comes out with, "Its health and safety you have to wear safety glasses". No says I, "i can't wear those because I will have to remove my PRESCRIPTION glasses". His reply.. " Nope, you cant come past here without safety glasses on", "Fine I will go then ", says I. "You can't you need to wear the glasses past this point and the exit is the other side of the site", was his reply. My possibly heated reply of "Go on then genius your move!", was not in retrospect all that wise but it did get him to call the higher ups to complain about me, in the process getting himself called a tit and told to allow me in as I was wearing glasses and that will suffice for external deliveries, going inside the plant would be different. I am still laughing about it.
  3. Same here, stealer service isn't worth it.
  4. Try 18 quid for the tank o ring on my TDR, comes as part of the "complete tank assembly" now discontinued. Had to find out size and material which is a quirky one as it has to be oil AND petrol resistant, most are 1 or the other. Had to buy a tenner's worth to get minimum order and then vat and del on top. And no before you say it, it isn't listed on the parts list, its in my parts book but the number has been deleted, unfortunately, not superseded or updated, even fowlers drew a blank. It seals the oil tank outlet.
  5. I have one of the early tom tom 1's. I dismantled the window mount down to its parts then used what I needed to fab a bar clamp. Not that high tech I'm afraid but works, cost peanuts (they go for 15 or 20 quid tops on e#ay.) and behind the screen is weatherproof enough to stand rain (with some strategic silicone inside the case) and I can whip it off if I'm in town. The later tom toms have much weaker mounts with wimpy little springs.
  6. Not a fan myself. Making it harder to get at what you want. I can understand iphones staying on the cutting edge but this forum is not for techies. Constant changing just makes it frustrating to use.
  7. You tried getting a DT rotor off, they don't do loose. Check the wiring, the cdi/mag source coil wiring runs past the exhaust at the back of the tank, exhaust side and can catch if its moved and earth out the coil wiring on the pipe. I found this out AFTER pushing it home..
  8. Make your own choice buy on the TDR250 forum, here and probably most other 2stroke forums Mitaka pistons are best value/performance. There are better but you pay for em. Secondly no matter what anybody tells you a genuine head gasket is a MUST HAVE. Dont get a pattern one they leak. Gauranteed. I reccomend stripping and cleaning the power valve too.
  9. What about this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-RD-350-ypvs-31k-rev-counter-/271947338740 I don't mind getting it and forwarding it on if they wont post, so long as you pay me back of course
  10. Will the dt mechanism not swap across?
  11. Been there, everybody has bought a lemon at least once. its a common enough happening for 2 strokes and looks pretty much like yours, ignoring the vertical lines you can see the actual damage on the piston wall at approximately 4 equidistant spots on the piston.. Look here for a deeper explanation... http://www.off-road.com/dirtbike/tech/dirt-bike-tech-twostroke-seizure-52428.html
  12. 6500mls, yammy dealer is talking crap. More like 14k. My TDR did that b4 it blew. I have heard of 350's doing 20k before trouble. Used responsibly and with quality oils.
  13. On an r6 yes, on a ybr it will look pretty but little real benefit in ultimate stopping power and feel. Why do you say its on the way out, my TDR still has its original hoses, their 28years old. Hasn't exactly worked hard for its bread though..

    2002 dt 125

Why it will ruin the handling, make the bike look daft too.
  15. Starting a new thing, February fool, Saves waiting for April.
  16. Shop around, have a look at the more local bike shops ESPECIALLY ones that deal with motocross stuff. I get Morris semi synth 2stroke oil for a fiver a litre. The Halfords scooter stuff is fine too and cheap, READ the back of the bottle. Compare it directly to the expensive stuff and you will see there is actually cock all difference worth talking about unless your running a high strung racer. Think about how kids ride scoots, how many of em blow up.
  17. Try looking for the engine number or the number that should be stamped on the rhs of the headstock behind the plastics. Other than that I don't know, your/that bike is a lot newer than I thought it was. What are you trying to register, it should already be registered and have a log book/ title telling you things like this.
  18. Its a 1982 (ish) bike, that means its too old for 17 digits, it pre dates vin numbers. You cannot and will never get a 17 digit code for that bike unless there is something you have missed. A photo may help date the bike at least.
  19. Are you sure its a 50, 5j2 is the prefix for an 81 to 83, Dt 80 mx
  20. "No signal from ignition to ecu." That wont mean power from the 'ignition switch'. That is a throwback to the days of a keyed starter button. Then switching the ignition. Litteraly connecting power to the ignition coil. On a modern vehicle the "ignition signal" will be the pulse output from the pick up coil on the crank. The engine is cranking and will expect to receive a signal that correlates with the corresponding engine speed to give a reference point on the fuel/ignition map. The ecu will then use this to calculate the quantities of fuel (injector duration and start point) and the ignition pulse to the primary coil to start the engine. If there is no signal from the sensor/pick up coil nothing can happen. No spark or fuel. Welcome to modern engines (blurgh).
  21. We have a specific area for wanted ads. Please use it instead of the topic area's.
  22. Glad I wasn't stoned or drunk when I watched that........
  23. I can looking at that picture, sure beats the stock DT.
  24. Where did your inspiration come from..... Love the exhaust. Its just so wrong its perfect.
  25. Thats why the new members area is here. To break the ice, say hi and what your aims are. Makes a massive difference to the number of replies. As to your plan. Sounds fine. There are a couple of members on here who have taken the baby dray wwwaaayyy past a bit of decluttering. Start a new thread with the custom stuff asking about cleaning up the looks of your bike. The cruiser lads will be on it like flies on shit. Engine tweak. That will turn em right off.
