  1. Would have been easier I think? But she didn't fancy it, also I think a trailee is easier to ride (Steep learning curve for the cbt) and manoeuvre and your more visible.
  2. 58plate old.. In a few years it will fit right in.
  3. Signed up and loaded pics in minutes. The tricky bit is keeping your infomation cryptic because they want you to share everything with everybody. I used seperate email and a spurious name and it seems ok.
  4. well you cant hide the name so i improvised. Yeah, solid. Except the tank, its plastic and 2 of the bodywork fixings have seized in so that will need replacing. The suspension relay bearings have quite literally gone and some wiring 'teen adjustments'. Chain and sprockets are fubar, engine will be rebuilt anyway. Full gasket kit is 13.99, crank bearings with seals is a tenner the other seals are pence. Hell a crank fully built is 70 quid and that's for a reasonable quality one. Not worth reborting as a replacement barrel with piston is only 40 quid. Other than that it seems ok. Needs cosmetic attention but only elbow grease for the most part, I'm starting to see why folk get these, throw 500 quid at that motor and you can get a reliable 70mph, that goes up with big bores. Mind so does the cash. 20hp is supposed to be possible apparently. I'm not allowed to work on it solo though, she wants to know how it works. Quite glad about that tbh, nothing worse than a biker that when asked a tech question about their obviously worked on bike. Responds with, "dunno my dad did it i just put the fuel in".
  5. Ok first pictures of 'Arrow' as she has christened it already. https://www.flickr.com/gp/147905465@N08/j2CBHP
  6. Were not talking land rover chassis (60 tonnes) bushes so I might give it a try, only one complete one to get out and that will like as not dissintergrate. Will use heat/ cold to put in the new, like crank bearings.

    Regulator

Sorry, bollocks to that. Carry on as you were and if, that's IF it goes flat on you get another opinion. I wouldn't trust any dealer/mechanic without a lot of evidence to show their worth. Meanwhile educate yourself on testing it, far far cheaper by a significant amount of money even with buying the meter (tenner tops of fleabay). Its a simple test too.
  8. 2 of em have fallen apart once it was off, just the outer races left. Was thinking I could cut them out maybe? Bench vice works as an effective press when your closing it with a decent set of stilsons
  9. Well you can get the bearings, 7quid a pop or so, i'm not sure how they come out. Anybody changed the bearings in a suspension relay?

    Fuel pump

Nah, too warm down here for ice....
  11. Thats good news. Sucks about the receipt though. Sellers like that are theives pure and simple.

    Fuel pump

Your assuming we bought the tape and the card.

    Fuel pump

cor your posh, it was cards and sellotape round ours.
  14. I have them, its just finding a host. I have also just discovered the 'double conrod' or whatever the Italians call the rear suspension link that connect the dog bones, chassis and shock should be made of sodding gold. I hope the bushes/bearings are replaceable.
  15. Tried to fill it out but the questions are bad. They are too specific, very digital. Motorcyclists buy bikes for many reasons, we also generally have more than one. It may well be a basket case 'one day I will' or a sunny sunday classic, or a little dirty secret, (yes kept in a garage away from the wife, it happens). It makes questions like which country of origin, do you buy for practical etc pointless. Same person buying different bikes for different reasons that your questions don't accommodate. I would have to fill it out 4 times. You need to open the options up. Why the weird list of manufacturers? you include Norton but leave out other British makes, you include Ducati but leave out Aprilia, (a pretty big one to leave out if you ask me). KTM but no Husqvana. And finally why put classic and custom in the same group, like putting cows and horses in the same stable. They both have 4 legs and eat grass, not the same though.
  16. I dont care. Anybody finding out the sw arm spindle is free would. The only one that siezed in its bush comes out with the shock so it can be sorted on the bench in a vice.
  17. Well its a frame with forks in my garage now, came apart ok. Going to rebuild the motor anyway, its like 30 odd quid for just about all the consumable parts on the motor except the piston. We live outside of Northampton leaving the daughter with a 10 mile trip on country roads from her intended 6th form college. Reliability over performance. Suspension looks good all but one of the bolts came out, the knuckle is fkt but that is hardly a shock and I can build my own loom. All in not too bad, could have been better but could have been worse, did a little dance when the sw arm pivot came out easy. That would have been a bitch.
  18. They will fit a new one at whatever miles and that's it, doing anything else is illegal. The mileage may be stored in the bikes brain instead of the dash possibly. Thereby correcting its self as its fitted. Dunno.
  19. Prob better to leave it cracked. Nobody 'should' be able to change the mileage, you just record the change. Keep the original as evidence with relevant mot's to back it up.
  20. As I said options are out there, look here:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ktm-125-200-250-300-450-2003-Wp-Suspension-Forks-Suspension-Spares-Or-Repairs/182401412385?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D40794%26meid%3Deb37d2b29a154f6c926c044bbdcd41dd%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D172461468335
  21. You have measured yours...........? Not forgetting you need to allow for losing some to the smaller wheel and lower profile tyre.
  22. Bit pricey, someone taking the p there. He doesn't have the rest of the bike either. Chancer after easy flip. I wouldn't pay that on principle there are plenty of options. Would YZF forks not be a better option? Plenty of them in breakers. Easy for parts. Just be sure to check the length, some usd forks are a lot shorter than you might expect. There are tdr250 forks on flea bay for a lot less too. RWU though. Twin disc again, with blue's and an r6 master cyl......
  23. Depends on the bodywork etc, I would expect to lose some. usd forks are fatter than 'proper' forks. The belgradia has usd's. Commonly swapped into TDR250's. Well the running gear complete back end included. Why not go crazy with a fzr400 front end. Fits the same headstock (its the same stuff in a tdr250 minus a disc. Tdr125 with twin disc's that's gonna stop, esp with blue spots, again a straight swap on an fzr400 I believe. They are on the TDR250. Sorry, spending your money for you. Just if you want to get things a bit special, doing it at this stage is cheaper, might get good money for your stuff too.
  24. Don't see why not. Same disc and caliper. May need to change the wheel bearings for your spindle size. Spedo drive is pretty std at that age I think. All in as far as swaps go I don't see much of an issue. But.....! You mentioned in your earlier post about usd forks. Why not try for a complete front end. Many of the later 125 sm bikes have usd forks and may well be long enough for the tdr.

    rt100 qustions

Its a DT 100 without any legal stuff, no lights etc. New it would have used the autolube (oil pump) now, who knows? you need to do as above and look behind the panels and under the seat for the tank. Its should still have the pump but on an off roader its no hassle to keep the fuel oil ready mixed in the van.
