    I'm a bit late to the party here but this is sounding electrical at me. You have tried a new plug CAP i take it. See what the resistance values are for the ig coil. And the cap (cap's typically 4K)You don't need a manual if you havent got one but check the value of the primary and secondary coil resistances, then get it hot and see what it is. You sould expect to see a slight drop if its warm. But any major changes get another.
  3. What did, you haven't actually detailed any real issue. Could just be a flat battery from the info we have. As to the mechanics discription of 'some fuel parts', meaningless. Let us have a clear non objective discription of what the bike is doing, any odd noises, smells, have the plugs out for new ones (always worthwhile when you are having problems) but keep the old and tell us what they are like they may be usefull to prove the new ones too,is there any black deposits, white deposits, nice tan colour. The bike will probably be telling you whats wrong we just need to listen properly. Welcome to the forum by the way.
  4. What's the plug look like when its done, black, white, nice coffe tan colour. Red spots on the insulator. Any cracking. Are you SURE its the plug. Have you tried changing the cap as well.

  10. I did getting on for thirty thousand miles with the 7x5 on the suzuki but in the last 12 months the plods have been getting sharper round near me and for some unexplained reason it just wasn't comfortable any more. Superstition, instinct i dunno.
  11. Once you have all the gears back, get the oil changed PDQ you dont want the rubbish floating around in there.

  13. No problem, hope you don't have to stir the box too long to get the rest back.
  14. One last thing, have you tried starting it in 3rd or 4th and see what happens then with gear selection. If you use 3rd you should be able to ride off (carefully). Then you may get the gears back?
  15. So, when the engine is running you have all gears and it selects as it is supposed to. Then when the engine is running you can select first and second only. This is maddening, it should do one or the other, the fact that it all works when the engine is off rules out most of the issues when the engine is running. Can you select them normally, as in clutch in lift lever feeling the action then clutch out wheel spins/drives. Repeat to select first. When the engine is running? Has the bike been stored for an extended period? finally, this is going to be a bit of a bore. Try 5 minutes of manually going up and down the box using the back wheel and see if there is any improvement. It might just be a bit of light corrosion inside the box. Nothing all that serious but enough to jam up the selectors when they are under load. Working the mechanism through repeatedly may get it lubed up enough with oil under the sliding gears and such to free it out.

  17. So are you saying the gear lever didn't return to center. Or its just wont engage on the clutch because it stalls out?
