  1. I bet the indicators cause the most greif. If it were my money with that new pot new hoses and clips wouldnt be wasted. Look better too. Whip off the rad and flush that too.

One of the TDR forum lads has a banshee motor in his. Could be a place to tag for motor info. Cant rmember what his forum name is. Search banshee and it should pop up. I know at squires he was running lower than peak power as the bhp may only be 80 odd but the torque is off the charts and kills cranks. Dont think he is using pv either. For rideability he has a wide tune. Oh ffsake my memory is shit. Blackhat you have the memory for names.
  3. Eh hem..... And where is the TDR in that list. You have all the dainty racers but foget the Vinny Jones of 2 strokes...... No cheaper though. Minters are fetching 3500 now.. Sack of spanners with an mot can be a grand.
  4. You would need to check with the tyre people for specifics. Tyre sizes are important to handling etc. Your 150/60/18 breaks down to a 150mm tread that has a height 60% of the width( 150 ) and mounts to an 18 inch rim. The bit not mentioned is the rim fitting. At 150 you prob have a 4 or 4 1/2 inch rim. That is how wide. This is important for the shape of the tread meeting the road. I know your pain i had the same with a 600 suzuki a decade ago. Thankfully GSXR stuff swaps dead easy. Everythibg fits everything within reason. So i swapped just the rear to start with and it was horrid. The front was done shortly after. As value is not an issue and modification is not a problem then go for swapping the wheels. Both chundercat wheels with a matching set of tyres of which there is a lot of choice. Would be a worthwhile upgrade. Try not to get carried away with rear tyre size. It would be wasted on the fz and spoil what you could gain. As to the exact needs of the swap i dont know the bike well enough to say. Just get a wheel spindle and spacers and see what happens. It will fit. Just how much effort is up to you.
  5. I had an 80cc alongside me at those speeds at squires. Stripped out, tuned up track weapon that was i believe an rd80. Not sure on the last bit. It seemed very , flat out to ride but! Well it did 90 or more with me.
  6. So did we use the search option??? I did..... Got to worth an ask....night still have it.

Not normally. You are listed as a member only so only limited options are open to you anyhow. Generally its only yamaha related forums that are mentioned. The TDR250 forum or the aircooled rd club for example. Small forums could lead, worst case, to complications legally if something went awry. The site owner has the ultimate say and you said please but i would think its a no.
  8. Cheaper by enough to justify the insurance increase, bike de valueation and the cost of fixing the ride height afterwards. As well as the cost of the parts...
  9. Not a stupid question at all but it does prompt a couple of questions. Firstly, why? Second, are you changing the front to match?

Why. I dont do sportsbikes. I stopped streetfighters cos it was all the writer trying to be clever when i wanted to know about the bike.

There are some right sexy women out there too but you only want to ride them a couple of times too before they get expensive.

So where are the pictures... the details.......
  13. You may have the v5 but with all the spurious grinding and stamping on that engine a nosey plod may sieze it for.. 'further investigation' You will need 125 equivalent braking for the insurance man too. The stock dt stuff has a hard enough time stopping a 50. As to it all fitting thats no shocker to anybody who has played with old yam 2strokes. The cases have hardly changed, maybe some brackets here and there. Be ineresting project but i would be looking for another motor if your serious about using it. Esp if you want it on the road.

    DUCATI 996

Dont fix it just crack it for spares......unless of course you have a late gsxr11 needing some sexy running gear and tail. Ie flog the bits at a streetfighters bash for decent return.
  15. So where did they put the rad? Can you imagine how much vaseline will be needed if caught using this as a '50'. You would get buggered from all directions. Might be fun if done to a legal bike, with a legal motor.
  16. Are we still talking about engines.... :?
  17. Yes but when you do the rebuild you will replace the offendong gaskets as a matter of coursr anyway.......
  18. Thats the kind of thing fixed with a good thrash to clear all the oily shit that will be in the motor gubbins. If a 2 stroke doesent get properly hot the oil never clears the cases and you end up with slimey carbon oily crap everywhere.
  19. Bit ott there slice.. I see your point but in reality its not somethingvthat happens unless someone has raked out the headstock and can't weld for shit. As to upgrading bear in mind the balance of the bike. How will you upgrade the rear as that is normally harder. Not forgetting matching the wheels too or it looks cheap. As to the front buy a complete front end. Wheel forks fender everything. As a lump its normally cheaper then you use YOUR stem in the donor yolks. You may need to have a stem turned depending on your choice and if you can get your stem out. The most important issue is fork length modern forks are a lot shorter than older bikes. You should considervthat when choosing.
  20. Introduce yourself first. A good introduction will get you no end of help. No intro and this may be the only reply you have. The forum has few real rules as such but does have a strong root in manners and "Treat as you wish to be treated". Get that intro up.....
  21. First post questions dont do so well. Use the new members section to tell people a little about yourself. You will get a lot more help that way. My money is on the battery or the voltage reg/rec unit as an early guess but without more info....?
  22. Same for me the last couple of miles. Just got home before my glasses were completely useless. They froze over same as my visor. As for this morning.....minus 7 with freezing fog. Yuk.
  23. your visor freezes your controls get covered in ice. The dickheads in cages think yout fucking about going slow when your just trying to see where your going. Yuk fkin hate it
  24. Wooohooo nother girlee on the forum. Welcome. Pics of the lil blighters would be good. Maybe a running thread on the work in projects. People can follow your progress and offer help easily then.
