If you a bigger bloke i would go with the R1. The extra weight will blunt the R6 whereas the R1 will have the spare power to make it up.

You have to ride it to clear the smoke. At the very least hold partial throttle till the smoke clears. Dont just rev it hard. The oil condenses from the fuel when the engine stops. Then it burns off when the engine is next started making it LOOK oil rich.

They are not economy bikes. My tdr pence per mile is similar to my range rover. Range rover is heavy on fuel but othereise normal car costs. If you figure the engine strip/rebuild every 5kmiles. Tyres every 5k. Average of 35mpg. Plus the 2stroke. Its hitting 6k as the road opens up on your favorite road that makes all the hassle worthwhile.

Its a dt with a big bore thats done right. Does everything the 125 not a lot more does just dearer. Like Airhead said. Buy a 125 fit a quality bigbore and you have a better bike tbh.

Why adjust the oil pump on the fly. If you have got it wrong either way you can kill the motor. The manual, haynes or otherwise will tell you how then leave the bastard thing alone. DT Is dead right. My TDR may be a generation on but slow and steady wont get you any friends with the motor. The power valve helps but ride all day at those revs and she will foul the plugs. After 500k forget the break in rubbish too. Grab the bstard by the bars and hang on. After 25years of 2strokes all i will add is find the rev when the power vanishes. Then stay 500rpm under it except in extreem red mist moments. (Normally humbling bugger bikes) On long constant runs stay 1000rpm under. Keep her in the sweet power, just keep half an eye on the panic! er! Water temp gague.

Sounds like an italian tune up is needed. Long hi rpm ride Or take the exhaust off and clean the gunk out. If it was used for short trips or the previous owner never let her sing to clear the pipes it could be full of gunk.
